Canada’s Air Force will honour the 50th Anniversary of CC-130 Hercules operations in Canada at 8 Wing/CFB Trenton on 15 November, 2010.

The event is open to current and former CC-130 Hercules air and ground crew who have served with the Canadian CC-130 fleets over the years. Planned events include static displays of CC-130H and CC-130J models, a history and memorabilia display

by the National Air Force Museum of Canada and CC-130 Squadrons and a gala dinner at the National Air Force Museum of Canada with open reception to follow.

The B-model version of the CC-130 Hercules was delivered in 1960, making it the longest serving transport aircraft to serve with the Canadian Forces. The recent arrival of the J-model promises many more years of loyal CC-130 service to Canada.

Crew members and alumni of the CC-130 fleet interested in registering for the upcoming celebration or receiving additional information about planned events are asked to contact the Anniversary Committee:

Email: herc50thanniversary at gmail.com

Phone: Major Bill Snyder, (613) 392-2811 ext 2962

Space for the gala dinner is limited and must be reserved.

Like it's mythical Greek namesake, the Hercules aircraft has flown above and beyond the call of duty for Canada's air force for the past 50 years.

The CC-130 Hercules, dubbed the workhorse of the Canadian Forces, was celebrated at CFB Trenton Monday by about 400 current and former CC-130 Hercules pilots, flight engineers, load masters, navigators and ground crews.
