AMPTestFE
No, the coyotes came in and wiped out the rabbit infestation awhile ago, so now they're chasing coyotes off the runways. But no, not doing that anymore.
Guest
Well, I'm sure those guys are missing you. The "rabbit/coyotes" reminds me of Kadena, which was reported to once be infested with rats. So, they brought in the Habu snake to go after the rat population, until the place was infested with Habu snakes, So, then they brought in the mongoose to go after the snakes---and the place was soon overrun and airplanes were hitting/dodging the mongoose on the runways. So, then they put out traps to catch as many of the mongoose as they could---don't know how this story ends....
Muff Millen
The Habu was there long before the rats. In 1963 when I arrived at Naha...the incommers briefing fully briefed uo on the dangers of the Habu. During those days it was fun to explore the caves that were all over the south end of the island. Never saw a habu in the wild but did find a couple of WWII bobby traps. Muff
