lynfreeman
Hi, I run a non-profit organization and we\'ve had a C-130A donated. It hasn\'t flown in 20 yrs, but the engines were pickled, props stored and the aircraft sealed and dehumidified. The aircraft comes to us with a restriction that it can never fly again, so we\'re looking at salvage or parting it out to support our youth programs. Any suggestions on who to talk to or where to start? Thanks! Lyn Freeman lyn@lynfreeman.com
bobdaley
Lyn Can you give us any more information. what tail number is it? If it is in reasonable shape with decent documentation it could be worth something for parts. If you plan to display it, you may need some parts. There are lots of things out there, let us know in which direction you are headed. Bob
SamMcGowan
Since it is an A-model, it\'s probably not going to be worth anything for parts since they are not generally compatible with the later models. You might want to consider donating it to a museum if it can be moved and reassembled. The Air Force doesn\'t even have a C-130 on the parade ground at Lackland. bobdaley
The IAAFA B model 59-1531 at Lackland was replaced by an E model, and 531 was designated for the parade ground but it hasn\'t been moved there in over 3 years. Bob Still curious which A model they got?
SamMcGowan
When I was at Lackland in early November we met with the curator of the museum and he told us that they don\'t have a C-130 of any kind and none promised. A B-model went there but it ended up being used by the Security Police training school. He told us that if they could come up with $100,000 they could have one trucked in or $50,000 if one could be flown into Kelly.
