An enduring social conflict between school teachers and the Mexican government has led the Mexican Air Force to conduct a number of aerial resupply flights to provide food to 48 municipalities within Oaxaca State that are currently cut off by road blocks.

The resupply effort has been led by the Secretariat of Social Development (SEDESOL) and began on 24 June with road convoys. Starting on 30 June a first Lockheed Martin C-130K from the Mexican Air Force (FAM) conducted the first aerial resupply run with 18 tons of food.

SEDESOL reported on 4 July that over a period of three days, through 2 July, a total of 178 tons of food were flown in 10 flights to Puerto Escondido and Huatulco airports by two C-130Ks and then moved to a number of storage centers by road.
