  1. just type in the name of the film and it will appear on youtube.
  2. Hello all,I have stumbled across a remarkable Viet Nam language film on YOUTUBE-Hon Ngoc Vien Dong-Thanh Pho Luc Ran Dong. The film is during 1975 at the end of the war and lasts 47 minutes and 26 seconds-but -for all us Hercules fans the important bit begins at 6m 09s-the full colour pictures of TAN SON NHUT AIRBASE after the base was captured...including VNAF C-130A transports captured intact and damaged and destroyed-including 6 Hercules in revetments -2 of which you can clearly see tailcodes GZB and HCI respectively 55-0001 and 56-0476.Also there are long range shots of other C-130A aircraft destroyed on the southern ramp area-GZJ (56-0489) a destroyed C-130A,and further on GZL.The pictures are remarkable and at the same time sad to me-a proud Air Force fighting for freedom of its people destroyed by a cruel and brutal communist tyranny supported by others.I would welcome any comments on the film.
  3. Hello all, I have just come across the following item for sale on EBAY....170th AHC VIETNAM WAR HOME MOVIES DVD PLEIKU DAK TO BIKINIS & BUCCANEERS HUEY.This DVD is for sale for $24.95 and on the preview clearly shows the remains of the two C-130E Hercules hit and set on fire at DAK TO airfield on 15th November 1967 by VC Mortar fire....on the preview it describes how a brave helicopter pilot got into a third Hercules and backed it away from the conflagration...saving it from destruction too.The preview clearly shows DH as the tailcode of one aircraft (345 TAS 62-1865) whilst the other is so damaged on the tailplne area you cannot quite see it I know it is 776 TAS 63-7827 with DL tailcode. Both lost aircraft were listed from the 776 TAS because the flight crews were from that squadron.Thankfully nobody was killed. does anyone have any comments on this?
  4. additional information-the C-130A was visiting the UK at RAF Greenham Common airshow in 1979 and was with the 105 TAS of the Tennesee ANG.
  5. Hello all,i have just found a picture of C-130A 54-01640 in an old edition of AIR EXTRA issue 26 page 6 and the camouflage matches a picture on this website showing the aircraft in VNAF service coded HCO-there is even the faint outline of the VNAF star and bar on the rear fuselage! does anyone have any thoughts or comments on this?
  6. Hello bob,any thoughts or questions on what I sent you?please reply, regards simon.
  7. Hello bob,i will be posting my pictures and information to you on Monday.
  8. Hello again, sorry to say it but this picture description is WRONG-I have pictures of 56-0519 on the ground at Tan Son Nhut clearly showing GZP as its tailcode-if you send me an address I will send them to you.
  9. Hello again bob,the picture of 55-0013/HCD is credited to ANDRE WADMAN and is number 198 of 1527 photos of his on AIRLINERS.NET-it is not described as a C-130A-on the site go to the countries/airports list and scroll down to VIETNAM-on the airports list for the country pick TAN SON NHUT and pick 120 pictures only per page-you will find on page 13 a picture of ANTONOV 26s with ex-VNAF C-130A Hercules in the background-clearly showing their tailcodes-including 55-0013/HCD.i hope this helps-PS there is another photo on page 11.Please reply, regards simon.
  10. if anyone has any information about the above please share it!thankyou regards simon.
  11. next 56-0545 HCP-this is the correct tailcode for this aircraft(it is not 56-0519-this is GZP- I have many pictures of this aircraft from the internet!) Check this pic out. Bob
  12. next 55-0013 HCD-this is the correct tailcode for this aircraft-a clear picture of this is on AIRLINERS website if you look in your search of airports at TAN SON NHUT. I tried HCD and 55-0013, and Lockheed and Vietnam AF at TSN on Airliners.net and found nothing? Bob
  13. next 54-1634-this aircraft is listed by you as HCO tailcode-this is incorrect-this should be 54-1640. That tail code came from a Vietnamese site and you maybe correct. I have it in my other file as 1640 maybe HCO. Can't confirm it. Bob
  14. next 56-0542 GZL -you put this tailcode on your list-I have never been able to confirm this tie-up....how did you? this aircraft was destroyed by an artillery attack on 29/4/75 along with 56-0489 GZJ and one other Hercules-all were next to each other at Tan Son Nhut.a film is on YOUTUBE of Viet Nam in May 1975 taken by someone who goes onto Tan Son Nhut airfield and films the remains of this aircraft but it is too fuzzy to see the serial number...could you see it? No I did not see it, I do have a picture of 56-0489 and the GZJ 56-0489 is visible Bob
  15. hello bob, sorry for the delay in replying to your answer (the file you uploaded).I have a few questions...first 56-0505..i have never been able to confirm its existence beyond 29/4/75...yet other sources state it was captured at Tan Son Nhut after that date-in my opinion this was the C-130A shot down by SA-7 missile attack as described by MR RICHARD ARMITTAGE.I have never seen this aircraft on the ground anywhere !do you have any proof of its existence? after 1975 there were 7 A models confirmed as stored at TSN, 56-0505 was reported as one of them but I have not confirmed it. Last year there were 4 A models still there. 5 I have confirmed 55-0001, 55-0005, 56-0476, 56-0519, 56-0532 now at Khe Sanh Museum. That left three I could not confirm and 2 of them were at TSN, 55-0013, 56-0496, 56-0505. 505 may have been shot down like you say. Bob
  16. hello again, sorry for the delay in replying to you-please put all info you have on the VNAF C-130A aircraft that you have onto the database so I can compare it to my information and correct it if necessary-with my reasons for any differences I have noted.thankyou, regards simon.
  17. hello, can you place all 35 VNAF C-130A aircraft please?i only see 21 listed and I can do alot of information regarding them, thankyou, regards simon.
  18. Hello all, does anyone have a list of the C-130A HERCULES that escaped from TAN SON NHUT in 1975 and landed in THAILAND at U TAPAO AFB in late April and that were subsequently flown to Guam in early May?There were 9 aircraft in all,I have some but not all of their identities-I would particularly like serial number and tailcode tie-ups,such as 56-0518/HCM.Personnel at both locations may be able to help, in addition 5 VNAF C-130A were in Singapore getting their wings repaired when THE REPUBLIC OF VIET NAM was conquered-does anyone know their identities? All 5 were repaired and went to the USAF. I know about the C-130A that escaped and was impounded there earlier on, (57-0460/HCF)lastly, does anyone know what happened to the ex-VNAF C-130A that escaped to Singapore on 24/11/79? If anyone has any pictures aswell that would be great too.Any info will be gratefully received, please reply, regards simon.
  19. hello all,i have found something of interest in an old partwork magazine-warmachine issue 101 published by orbis publications in 1985 on page 2012-in an article about VC mortar attacks called THE NIGHT BELONGS TO CHARLIE -2 pictures of C-130E 62-1865 C/N 3829 with the tailcode DH clearly visible-it is the tailcode of the 345 TAS, yet on all lists i have seen about the destruction of this aircraft it is listed as a 776 TAS aircraft-tailcoded DL-like its sistership 63-7827 C/N 3904 tailcode DL-both were destroyed on the ground by VC mortar attack on 15 NOVEMBER 1967 at DAK TO,REPUBLIC OF VIET NAM. the pictures show the aircraft being destroyed and on fire-thankfully no-one was killed.the picture is credited to THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.one other aircraft was damaged and repaired and flown out later.in the wikipedia list of C-130 CRASHES they are listed as destroyed by rockets-not mortars as it should be.does anyone wish to discuss this?please reply, regards simon.
  20. please send to me your email address-mine is [email protected] i can send you pictures i have and more information as i find it....and tell you where i found my information too!thankyou, regards simon.
