  1. So what happened to #3 that was so bad that they had to shut it down with #2 already in the bag. We practice 2 engine out approaches/landings here in AFMC. They arent any fun. Think I might have restarted the leaker before landing, provided it was shut down with enough oil left to do so. Great job guys. Nobody really needed the compass, radar, or autopilot anyway.

  3. Ok, here is a question for all of you Engineer\'s out there... On the four engine Time, Fuel and Distance to climb charts there is a Temp Dev correction on the third page, I believe, for an all bleed on condition. The baseline is -30. Anyone have any idea why the base line is -30 instead of 0? The three engine climb charts don\'t have this correction, I assume because they assume you are bleeds closed. Ideas?
  4. It is a requirement in both the flight manual and mx manuals that when a crew is on board the door will only be opened from the inside. The pilot opening his window is only a technique, albeit a good one, to ensure the aircraft is depressurized prior to calling \"exits clear, insert chocks\" There is no requirement to having ground wires installed prior to opening the door, now before applying power maybe...
  5. If I\'m not mistaken (I am often) 1855 belonged to the Kadena rescue folks for awhile and was used as their slick pro bird. They retired it to AMARC a few years back. When the big CWB problem came up LRF rescued the rescue castoff from the boneyard to once again provide useful service training the nexgen
  6. I agree that the teeth were/are silly. At least those particular aircraft have a little personality though. In this ridiculous PC Air Force it\'s surprising that someone hasn\'t claimed to be offended and had them removed. If I were a shark I\'d be pissed.
  7. Equivelent Baseline Hours. C-130s with different missions are assigned different EBH multipliers depending on the missions they perform. For instance, aircraft that regularly fly heavy gross weight low level mission are assigned a higher multiplier than aircaft that fly orbits. So an aircraft with 30,000 flying hours and a 1.5 EBH multiplier have 45,000 EBH and are therefore grounded.
  8. The shark teeth belong to ACC\'s 23rd Group (Flying Tigers). When the Hercs belonged to ACC for a litte while the Pope planes belonged to the 23rd therefore had the teeth. When they went back to AMC the teeth came off and the goofy Gryphon went on. The A-10s kept the teeth. The 23rd and the A-10s moved to Moody and now that the rescue birds there belong to ACC they got the teeth too. The 23rd\'s history goes back to WWII flying P-40s in China with Claire Chennault leading them.
