Spectre623
Read in the LM Code One mag where the AF sent 26 Herks to the beer can factory this year. GRRRRR. Here is the count: 11 MC-130H/P, 6 HC-130P, 4 AC-130H, 1 AC-130U, 4 C-130 H. Sad end for these great birds. I hear they are designing the final version of the Herk at the skunk works.... It will have 1 pilot and a DOG as the only crew members. The dog is there to bite the pilot if he touches anything. Railrunner130
As sad as that is, at least it's 26 airplanes that did their job and safely accumulated 780,000 or so flying hours without crew losses. That's something to be proud of.

bobdaley
I understand why most of them are there, but I don't get why H's 78-0809,79-0474 and 82-0058 were sent there?Bob
Spectre623
Dang Bob, that's so we can referb them and give them to some 3rd world country that can't maintain them. We don't even get to make beer cans out of them. That's what is sad. Bill
olcatmech2
Yeah that kind of irks me when you see what was a good sight to see with US military markings and now they have some foreign "force de aero" painted on the side of them with some funky number and hieroglyphics that make no sense. I wish that they were kept in this country . Made in the US and scrapped in the US!

Let me try to be PC and say that as a rule, I didn't enjoy OK City airplanes. I think I heard corrosion got the other two.
