  1. Have a look at the special chocking system, especially developed for what used to be Snoopie.

Have also heard that they are addressing gearbox problems on the French built engine.

This airplane, the A400M is going to be so late into service. its impact may be not Airbus is hoping for.

I think many who have ordered, are now wishing they had bought the C17, I know the RAAF is glad they went the Boeing way.

  2. Safair, a South African cargo operator, is in great need of herk capts. They have operations in South America, Afghanistan, Southeast Asia and Africa. The jobs are a combination of commercial work, UN relief and peacekeeping work and some Nato contracts. The contract period is usually one year, the south african licence validation is a piece of cake and you can fly until 65. Also the pay is pretty good so anyone interested checkout their website.

  3. I spent 11 years with SAT but never went into that strip in the Sudan. I remember seeing the pictures taken during the week long process of changing the prop and engine in the most autere conditions imagineable. I believe those pictures where used by the London based employment firm during their interviews of prospective ground techs to see what they would do in similar circumstances.

Incidently my present company, Safair, is desperate for herk capts and f/o\'s. They are now recruiting among US pilots for their positions worldwide. The south african licence validation is a piece of cake and you can fly until 65 so anyone out there who is interest check it out.

  4. As the RAF RAAF and USAF are moving the stretched C130\'s, five pallets are not that attractive.

Had dealing with a USA company, looking at replacing the K loader.

Was very apparent that they understood little about cargo handling and C130 operations.

Suspect you would be better spending your researce elsewhere.

  5. We had a co pilot on our E models who was a pain in the butt. Made the mistake of playing with the overhead panel, when I was flying as the LM.

The equivelant of a CMSGT in the RAAF is not to be messed with.

He gets out of the seat, told me to sit down and take over, walks over to the co-pilot asks him to get out os the seat, and go and make coffee.

Stan slides into r/h seat, straps in, disengages the auto pilot, trims the airplane, and we continue on.

Co pilot by this time is sitting on the bunk, comes up and says what gives.

Well now says FE, you can see how important you really are. Stan flew the airplane for several hours without the auto pilot. Then we all moved back.

AC then addressed the co pilot and said, you may if you are lucky, before you leave the air force, may hope to come up to the FE\'s knowledge, but you will never know more.

Turns out that Stan had more hours flying the C130, than the boy had all together.

They were good days which can never be replaced.

  6. It does appear as if not all the RAAF E models have been delivered to the Pakistan Air Force.

Will they be affected by the proposed trade sanctions.

Does any one know why they have so long in delivery.

  7. After weeks of viewing, I have worked out what is the problem of the actual site.

I live in a trailer, and use a lap top to access.

Particularly in the forum area, all the colours and the print size, make reading much harder for us oldies.

Casey can you establish if this can be upgraded.

    Thanks
