  1. the old birds stars and bars were red white and blue and we did have a beakon on the tail but with the bufferboards installed you can not see the strut for the ramp -- John you got a pic of the back end for Casey?

The way I remember the bars and stars they were darkened. I do recall seeing pics of red white and blue but those were from pictures before I arrived at Rhein Main in 80. the vert stab beacon was dropped down to the top of the fulelage as they went thru depot and got the in flight refuel receptacle. I want to say nickle was the 1st one that got that mod (for the 7th birds) They also got -15 engines during that same mod. The buffer boards are as I remember them.

  2. Ok now that I put on my specticals and lookat it on a big monitor, I can see what you mean. But, not a clue what they are. maybe its simply lighting for the door areas. seems the blisters or bubbled areas are pointing fore and aft at the dor areas.

  3. Cant say I see anything besides windows blacked or not. I think the black dot mentioned in front of the deflector door is just a hinge point for the deflector door.

But ya know, I have not been on or close to a Herk in about 20 + - a few years. things do change!

  4. Your right Sam its all kerosene but, All the different grades have stuff (additives) in it to change things like, flash points, static inhibitors, densities, preservatives, even good ol gasolene as Tiny mentioned in another thread. The list goes on and on. And $$$$$. The performance gains Generalsmoke is talking about probly made the mods pay for themself in a hurry.

  5. Loan it to the California Highway Patrol for their high-speed freeway chases....

Can a Herk fly that slow???

One of my former co-workers here used to have a white bronco with a real license plate that read "NOT OJ"

  6. Sorry if this offends. Some times I just cant help myself! .

    ................................................................................

The Pope and Nancy Pelosi are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd.

The Pope leans towards Mrs. Pelosi and said, "Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display, like that of your followers, but go deep into their hearts and they'll forever speak of this day and rejoice!"

Pelosi replied, "I seriously doubt that. With one little wave of your hand? Show me"

    So the Pope slapped her.

  7. Cant hold my tounge on this one! Everyone on this thread has mentioned possibilities that can and do cause yaw problems in any flight phase. Did you read that it also had a roll associated with it? Even a fuel imbalance can cause this. Some of these people have more experience in their little finger than most will have in a lifetime. You wouldnt look like a god up against the person you are slamming, you would look like an idiot. But your already showing that brilliantly.

    Regards John

  8. N135FF belonged to Hemet Valley flying service I think and the number on the tail was 82. the pics are of the H&P 130 and are not of N135FF. There was also a C-130 N116TG that had 82 on the tail but this was a French number. This A/C crashed in France Sept 6 2000 killing 2 and 2 made it out some how, I know because I was on it.

Interesting. Happy you survived that one for sure! Got a story to tell?
