  1. My wife once accused me for looking at planes more than other women. I just turned to her and asked if that was really a problem. After several seconds of silence, she just walked away. Small victories, small victories...

  2. That was based on information I had...not firsthand. I guess this would be the first case where the simulators were modified before the airplane, huh?

Yep! I was quite surprised when I showed up for a CRM sim two months ago and the box had the 241 display where the SKE scope goes. I mentioned to the LM operator that we don't have the 241 yet, and it surprised him too. I'll be glad to get the 241 in the H1s, I prefer it over the 59.

  3. Bob, the 53d (my squadron) is the H1 squadron at LRF. The 61st is the E model squadron, however, we still have some E models on our books. Right now we are still triple qual'd (E, H1, H3), and those plans don't look like they will change.

Railrunner, I was talking to a Minnesota ARC guy last week, and he mentioned that Pope will only have 2 tails on their ramp starting this summer. His source was a buddy of his from Pope, and that the Pope guys are not too happy about having all of their tails gone.

  4. The 53rd is supposed to be the "owners" of the H1s, and the 61st will keep the E models. At this time, the 53rd and the 61st are the only ones at LRF that are qualified in the H1s, the 50th will qualify later. The grand scheme was the 53rd to be H1, 61st to be E (until they convert to J), and the 50th to stay H3. But, I'm sure that will change in the near future...

  5. Top: Yes, the 61st still flies the E model. The green tails limp in and out of parking but they still get the job done.

More so than the red tails, right Mikey? :D

Congrats Dave! The 61st is where I started out too.

  6. Never heard that one, how long ago did that happen? I got here in '92 & haven't ever heard it.

That happened over here in the sandbox. And yes, it was the 777 EAS that had a crew entrance door separate from the aircraft in flight.
