I am know working for veterans in the state of Tennessee, I am a Veterans Service Officer and President of The Tennessee County Veterans Service Officers Association. I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall from Jan 1968 thru Jan 1971. I was attached to the 627th MAC and worked in the Passenger Service Terminal, the last year I was their I was the NCOIC of my section. I left Mildenhall and was assigned to the 438th Aerial Support SQ and was the NCOIC of my duty section, I made Sgt E-4 with under two years of service and made E-5 and never got to sew my stripes on due to my line number. My wife asked me not to stay in service after my 4 years was up and I honered her wish. We had a son that was born at RAF Lakenheath. I had only been out of service a few months when my wife found out that her previous open heart trouble was back and she died a few days after her surgery. I remarried in 1973 and have another son. I have several times wished I had gotten back in service however the Air Force would not let me after my first wife died because I was a single parent.

I will stop boring everyone with my story and hope I will ave contact with servicemembers I was stationed with.

  1. Where did you work I was in Passenger Service during that time.
  2. I was there during that time also heard everything that went on the evening of that event I was radio operator at the passenger terminal and heard it all, its a shame the Air Force told the family he crashed in the Ocean. I have never forgot that and to this day I still have night mares about that and also the airman that was working on the herc that walked into the prop by mistake. I was going out to unload a plane, had to have the bus stop to where I could get off I was so sick seeing that happen.
  3. Is that the Baby Jane that worked at the Passenger Service Terminal in 1969.
