Right now we're looking at shoe-horning one of them into the old hangers (bldg 1080). We are due to get some newer "broken" airplanes in for trainers and were asked how many we really needed. They are trying to conserve ramp space, so the idea was brought up to take the empenage off and either cut the outer wings at the splices or keep all 4 engines by cutting off at the outboard fuel tanks. A trainer like this would allow us to do most of our 3 level certs for the course in case of bad weather.
These would be:
R2 MLG wheel and tire
axle jacking
Prop service check
Power On
Tire serviceing
and possibly NLG wheel and tire depending on the CG
Also it would be a great training aid for the non-cert items we still cover (Hydro, Ramp & Door, etc.). If anyone has some ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. I'll be running around the base talking with CE and the Fire Dept for awhile.
