  2. I was at Mildenhall in 67-68 TDY two three month tours and several 5-7 day trips with the 61st ther use to be alot of chest thumpping between the guys leaving and the guys coming in they got pretty heated at the nco club some times. I enjoyed the time I was there got to go all over Europe,Middle East and north Africa,Warsaw,Poland it was a good time

  3. It time to revitalize the TDY stories I know there some young guys that have some good stories with the war and all so lets talk. Its got to be better than selling blackberrys The stories help keep us old guys young

  4. This is a very sad story but they are happing every day the Vultures are out there wating for a weak and crippled animal. The dam banks that loaned people money that they knew could not pay back then grouped it with good loans so they could sell it to the vultures. I say keep your power dry gun loaded things are going to get worst. We the US are borrowing money from people that don't like us very much and when you over 50% you are in charge. I have said too much

  5. That web site brings back some youthful memories I was at Clark early 68 TDY from Sewart I had a good friend Sgt. Allen Shenfield who was stationed there for about a year so he knew the ropes where to go and not go we had alot of good times in town. Housed in the jungle survival school huts could have been worst

  6. Are these planes really not able to do the mission they are buying new C-17's how much fuel can you buy with that much money I know they are slow and not as fuel efficent It is a catch 22 keeping jobs are saving money

  7. I joined the Air Force in Sept.65 because you couldn't get a job if you were class 1-A the factory's dindn't want to hire anyone they knew was going to the service they didn't want to keepyou on the rolls and pay benefits while you were gone. I was one of 9 kids living on a farm with winter coming on I was just going to be a burden on mon and dad

  10. WE took mine to Wassaw Poland in 1968 the Pilot backed the plane up several times to show off the ability of the C-130E we had agreat time the commies didn't have a plane that would back up. The AC did a assault take off there was lot of people watching

  11. I love TDY stories thier has to be someone out there that have some good stories remembering old stories helps to keep from getting senile.so share your stories

  12. If I remember right we pogo'ed every tank on pre-flight and most of the time you would find some water. I think sometime they would bring sample bottles to take the drained fuel. A old crewchief told me that if you would take a little oil and put it on the end of probe it would help protect the seal on the drain when they start leaking your plane was going the fuel cell

  13. In the picture the maint. hangers for the 61,62,4442 are not built yet they where between I row and the big hanger looks like they are under construction Isee there is a plane on the wash rack. I stayed in the brick barricks they where top of the line at that time drive by that place 4,5 times a year but don't have time to stop, The Sewart Alumni are going to have there reunion May 21 22 23 24 at airport Marrrott. You can go to SAFB.comfor more details
