  1. Today there was a story about 63-7883 has crossed the 30\'000hour mark and they plan to fly her till 2011 she was at in NJ Texas Arkansas Penn. N.C. If you want to read the story go to www.macon.com it is in the B section I thought maybe some old crewchief might like to know about your old plane

  2. Thanks HerkPFE after Iwrote that it has been so long that I might have been wrong we had that happen one time at Sewart but it was on the ground. It\'s like putting brake fluid in when your brakes are wore out when you you put new pads on and reset the cyclliner all that fluid has to go somewhere:blush:

  3. It\'s time for another story in Dec.67 we went tdy to the Congo through Trinidad to Accension Island lost the G.T.C. at Trinidad we were gone for to weeks that was a very expensive trip for uncle sam had to have assistant at every over nite stop I wount say who busted the G.T.C. but it wasn\'t me;) :woohoo: :woohoo:

  4. Way back when I think the maint. records where picked up once a week. That was pencil and paper days I\'am sure the maint. truck now has a computer in it. Most of the regular F.E.\'s that knew you and how you worked they would ask if the plane was ready and that was it. We was T.D.Y. in Jan.68 to PACAF to Clark we was flying with crews from other bases and some of the F.E. didn\'t know your M.O. and we had some dustups with some for a few flights but being adults we worked through it.Had one in Naha. when we landed he gave me the maint record with tow pages of little problems and one big one R.P.M. flux #2 out of limit. Iguess he wanted to stay a little longer but it didn\'t happen it was a all niter:laugh:

  5. It is the job of the Crew Chief to see that the plane is ready for flight. At Stewart I preflighted a lot of planes mostly mine and some time the flight crew would say you are going with us today and that\'s the way it was:unsure:

  6. I don\'t have any new info but I do know the C-7 came to Sewart in 68 the 4442 TNG Sqd. had C-130 but gave up some and replaced them with the C-7A sure made a different sound on the flight line:laugh:

  7. This may not be news worthy but Robins is cutting 208 white collar jobs so Marian Fraley sayes she is the deputy director of the 402nd maintenance wing. These people will be offered early retirement most are of retirement age now some will be offered separation incentives. To me this is getting rid of the most trained people. what will happen when nobody knows what is going on

  8. Great recap Chris. Here is a old story I was in my plane cleaning the copit and watching two of are planes do touch and goes on the runway with student polit\'s 64-513 was coming in and I looked up and he was coming in pretty steep I din\'t know if it was the wind or what he just couldn\'t get the main gear to touch first he landed nose gear first slammed the tail down and it broke off drugged it down the runway. Bad day at Sewart. Maybe wrong about the tail number been a long time ago.
