Jansen
Thought I'd start up a thread to track KC-130J deliveries to the Marines. My latest data shows: 5631 168074 Delivered Oct to VMGR-152, spotted in South Korea 5632 168075 Delivered Sep to VMGR-152, spotted in Japan That makes 38 delivered out of 46 ordered. Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 (VMGR-152) is based at MCAS Futenma (ROTM) in Japan. They are slated to operate 15 KC-130Js by Sept 2011. 5644 168065 #14, might be in flight test 5645 168066 #
Mark Rosenthal
Have you got any pics of the Marine J models? If you want to see some old F models look in the members gallery for my pics of while I was attached to VMGR-152 back in the early 80's. Jansen
The 1000th Rolls-Royce AE 2100D3 engine made its first flight last week, Dec. 1, in Marietta, Ga., onboard a new Lockheed Martin KC-130J variant destined for the U.S. Marine Corps' fleet. The AE 2100D3 engine is a lightweight, modular turboprop engine from the 'common core' AE engine product line manufactured by Rolls-Royce Corp. in Indianapolis, Ind. With more than four million hours of proven AE engine military service and more than 38 million hours in civil use, the Rolls-Royce AE engine product line provides unparalleled reliability to our military and civil customers around the world. The crew onboard were Lockheed Martin pilots Chuck Nelson and Mark Sasscer and Loadmaster Rick James. This Lockheed Martin aircraft is one of 47 KC-130Js on order by the USMC, of which 38 have been delivered to date. (Photo: Lockheed Martin) SN 5646 is tail number 168067 destined for VMGR-352. It will be the 41st KC-130J for the USMC when delivered.
DC10FE
Just curious, what other airframes use this engine? Don R.
P3_Super_Bee
Just curious, what other airframes use this engine? Don R. For the military version AE2100D3: Alenia G.222 (C-27J Spartan, is the US Military) Has same engines / glass cockpit of the C-130J, LMAero and Alenia did a joint venture for the aircraft. ShinMaywa US-2 (Japanese Large STOL amphibious SAR aircraft) For the civilian version AE2100A Saab 2000 (50 seat regional)
Jansen
The C-27J uses the AE2100-D2A, a very close variant of the AE2100D3.

bobdaley
Awhile back Lockheed was planning on delivering 5644 through 5647 before the end of the year. Is that still the plan? Have any been delivered? They also said these 4 were going to VMGR-152 but from the picture above at least one is going to 352? Thanks, Bob
Jansen
The following are planned deliveries for 2010, according to my sources: 5638 KC-3801 India 16 Dec 5644 168065 VMGR-152 May have been delivered 5645 168066 VMGR-152 5646 168067 VMGR-352 5647 168068 VMGR-352 5648 08-3174 Dyess 5th for Dyess 5646 and 5647 are going to VMGR-352 if you go by their tail codes. Lockheed Martin counts them as "delivered" upon acceptance, and not necessarily when they are in country.
P3_Super_Bee
Lockheed Martin counts them as "delivered" upon acceptance, and not necessarily when they are in country. DCMA (the customer) is going to accept the aircraft at Marietta. Once they do that, the plane ownership changes, that's why LM counts the "delivered", because they have been(paperwork wise to the customer) Then DCMA will then transfer the aircraft to the designated operator. Be it, USAF, USMC, Canada, India, whatever.

Le Addeur noir
KC-130J 168066 was heard on HF radio at 0206Z on 18th December routing from Wake Island to Anderson AFB calling Sumo 31,a VMGR-152 callsign. This would suggest this airplane was on delivery at this time.
