Mich
Any chance for a sneak peek from the production floor or the paint shop by now?
P3_Super_Bee
Couple weeks before the first one makes the paint shop. She should be going through buy off from DCMA for Final Assembly. Then the Trim Shop gets it for a week before she moves out of B1 to the paint shop. The only way to see photos is if LM releases them. We are not allowed to take photos due to Proprietary/Security reasons. They might do some when they roll the first one out to go to the paint shop. Though they didn't do anything when she was moved into Bodymate.

DC10FE
Hopefully, when it does get to the paint shop, it'll be painted like Qatar's colorful C-17's although I'm sure it'll come out in the usual very boring gray livery. Don R.

Don R. Standard gray, as like the first C-17. The second C-17 in Qatar Airlines colors, is said to be used to support the Emir when he is abroad. P3_Super_Bee
cool, looking forward to first picture! second one (212) is in primer in "Proven" with the 1000th nacelle That's not primer. Just the protective coating that comes on the metal from the supplier. It gets stripped off prior to shooting primer. That picture was taken inside the B1 Building, not to mention the aircraft is still in the B1 building. Should be moving to paint shortly. It's currently in the "Trim Shop". JCC140965
First one rolled out, serial MAH on the nose so A7-MAH as per the C-17's http://www.lockheedmartin.com/news/press_releases/2011/110502ae_first-for-qatar.html
Mich
Ok, thanks! Does the first Qatar Super Herc show just "MAH" on the nose and tail of a full A7-MAH? Back to my original question: Qatar# Lockheed# (FY?) A7-MAH 5662 (08-0)211 (A7-MAI) 5663 (08-0)212 (A7-MAJ) 5668 (08-0)213 (A7-MAK) 5669 (08-0)214 The bits between brackets are my fantasy/assumption/educated guess. Can anyone please look into the 211/214 numbers and see if they are indeed the last three of a FY serial? Qatar C-17A MAA has 080201 (for 08-0201) on its nose and just displays MAA on tail and nose. Jansen
The first of four C-130J Super Hercules for the Qatar Emiri Air Force has completed production at the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta. The picture shows the aircraft leaving the paint hangar. The new Hercules are the longer fuselage or "stretched" variant of the C-130J and deliveries to Qatar will begin later this year. The aircraft will be used for humanitarian relief and military missions for the defense of the State of Qatar. This is Qatar’s first experience with C-130s so the package being provided by Lockheed Martin is a complete solution. The package includes four aircraft, training of aircrew and maintenance technicians, spares, ground support and test equipment, servicing carts, cargo pallets and a team of technical specialists who will be based in Qatar during an initial support period. No pictures of the tail, so we don't know what the actual registration may be. Note that this picture is actually from last month, and the second Qatar herk should be out of paint by now. Jansen
According to a LM source, that picture was taken on the morning of 27 April 2011. It was supposed to have come out of paint earlier earlier, so my suspicion is that it went to the mod shop first and then went to paint, possibly due to a backlog. Jansen
Has A7-MAH 5662 (08-0)211 been up yet? Not yet, they just started on the latest batch of KC-130Js. Probably within the next couple of weeks.
Mich
Any chance you can have a looky looky how the "211" number, if at all, appears at the fuselage or tail?
