  2. Hi I saw a couple of pictures of a herk or herks at the CIA base at Harvey Point NC. One was on Google Earth At 36 06 07.67N 76-19 33.57W pic dated 3/9/2013. The other was on Bing Maps a similar Herk a little NW of the google map position in front of the hangar. Wondering if they are TDY or if the CIA owns a few herks there? Bob

    SAAF

I got a good update on SAAF Herks this weekend from Paul Zethof. I edited it so it would fit.If anyone has more knowledge of the SAAF Herks, would appreciate the info. Especially the whereabouts of 405, or the fates of 410 and 412. Thanks Bob Dear friends: Last weekend I visited the show at Waterkloof, South Africa. There was one C130J-30 from Ramstein and C130B 402 was operating out of Swartkop, we overflew Swartkop but did not see any other C130's over there, no other Herks at Waterkloof, just the stored ones. I was told that 5 are still operational. 405 was flying some months ago. Have attached some pics form 3 stored C130's, 404, 407 and 411 , no sign of 410 and 412 but believe these have been scrapped some years ago together with the C160 Transal fleet. Have also attached a link regarding C130B SAAF. As soon as I have finished the sorting out of the rest of the images I will send you these, 402 Saaf and Usaf C130J-30. Also heard that Airbus military made a new offer for A400M and CN295 and will give work to Denel, let's see what will come up, there is no money anyway...... Hope you enjoy the pics and find the news useful. cheers Paul 401 - Flying 402 - Flying 403 - Flying 404 - Damaged 405 - Missing ? 406 - Flying 407 - In Parts 408 - ex USAF C130B - Needs Major Maintenance 409 - ex USAF C130B - Flying 410- ex USN C130F - Never used? Parts ? 411 ex USN C-130F - Retired- Time expired 412 ex USN C130F - Never used ? Parts

  10. I went to a briefing at ACC awhile back and was told that 967 was being modified because they needed more EC's at DMto mod 967. Then I heard that they were going to park half the EC's at DM to save money. Funny they have enough money to mod 967 at the same time they have 7 EC's about to be parked? Bob
  11. HI TW The one at the Smithsonian was stored on the ramp behind the museum at Dulles. I have not seen it for awhile. The best thing to do with the info on 877 is send it to Casey he can post it. Thanks Bob
  12. All is well Here Koen. Take good care. Bob
  13. As of 1 Jan 14 there were 9 WC-130H's still flying as WC's 6 with the PRANG 64-14861 and 66 65-0963,66,68,85 2 are assigned to Guard units 65-0980 assigned to Savanah and 65-0984 assigned to KYANG But both of these aircraft are at Little Rock as trainers with AR ANG. However 984 has been at Hill on maintenance for a long time. Don't know if it is back yet. 65-0967 is at Waco supposed to be converted to an EC-130H but last I heard that was on hold.
  14. TW 57-0460 was with 304 TAS at Richards Gebaur then 63TAS at Selfridge, to SVAF and then back to 704 TAS at Ellington and then to 63TAS again at Selfridge and finally to 95TAS at Milwaukee then to Dulles in 1989. These were all AFRES units. Bob
  15. Tiny The one at U-H is 57-0460 and it did not have a Roman Nose Bob
  16. Giz Are you and the bride coming to Pigeon Forge? Bob
  17. there were 27 herks built with a Roman nose. 53-3129 to 53-3135 and 54-1621-1640. Some of these were later modified to the new radomes. I'll try to check the numbers. BTW there 22 built with side opening nose gear doors 53-3129 to 3135 and 54-1621 to 1628 None are in Museums in the DC area that I know about. Bob I looked at my pics and from what I could see only 9 were left as Roman noses 53-3130, 3131, 3133, 3134, 54-1621, 1624, 1632, 1633, 1640 If any of these were modified would you let me know? Thanks Bob BTW I found that 3 of the side opening door herks were modified to rear opening 53-3132 and 53-3135 for the Mexican AF and 54-1625 a gunship. Were any others modified? Bob
