  1. From what I remember the brakes have always been 3000 PSI but a metering value was put in to reduce them to 2000PSI for the B model which had a weak nose section unable to stand heavy braking. For some reason the metering value was left in on the stronger E model and was not removed until later H2s.
  2. Call sign was "Old" out of Mildenhall and "Ask" out of Rhein Main. The 37th used Ask for a while after moving to Rhein Main in the late 70's. The 37th used "Hertie" and then "Herky" on training Missions.

    I was mistaken on the tail no. It was the Caldwell aircraft however. There is an Air Force Cross above the crew entrance door as well as the crew list. It flies smoothly as a fine watch.

    I had the wonderful privilege of flying 7817 here at LRF yesterday. This is the aircraft on which Col "Budda" Caldwell earned the Air Force Cross. I wondered if there are retirement plans for this old warship and how Bill is doing?
