  2. 2 AS now is associate to the 440th...flying their H2s. 43 AES is also associate to the 440th. All remaining E\'s will be transferred out before 1 Oct.
  3. I can only speak to 2001-2004, but \"Herky\" was used on all local, SAAM/Channel msns. Only exception was \"JGO/KOO\" msns. I even flew OIF/OEF msns under the Herky call sign...still got the 781s that say so from my 2003 forays into our favorite country...could be different now, though.
  4. The \"good\" news is that at least it\'s going into type 1000 storage, so it will be preserved if it is requested to be moved...
  5. Not sure...we always used \"Herky\" call sign when I was at RMS \'01-\'04. Should be at DM tomorrow AM. BTW, 12 more Es will retire by the end of Sep, according to NDAA language...

Bob- The 2 grounded birds didn\'t go to AMARG because we could only retire 51 per the NDAA last year...they\'re top of the list to go this year (we can retire 24 E\'s 30 days after the Fleet Mix Study is sent to Congress). It had nothing to do with funding as far as I know; we just maxed out our numbers.
  7. The H1\'s have a shot. Depends on the Air Staff. No E\'s are being considered, other than for FMS or to show someone how expensive their bright idea is...
  8. 61st is supersized right now and will split acft/personnel over to the 53d. Good tails from POB will be split amoung LRF & RMS...24 restricted/grounded E\'s from POB/LRF/RMS will go to AMARG this FY. That\'s about as much as I can say...
  9. RZ, I\'m strictly talking UTE rates...you will see the new AD J\'s passing the ARC Js in EBH just like we\'ve seen the AD\'s early 90-model H3s have passed the ARC late 70-model H2s in EBH.
  10. J\'s aren\'t being scheduled for CWBs. But they\'ll definitely need them (at least the AD Js) in the late 2020s. The Js will start receiving the extended service life wing towards the end of the 09 deliveries; should be good for appx 63K EBH or so. Until they find something else that restricts before that...
  11. That article/list is a bunch of crap. They\'re all \"potential\" sites. Just stirred up all the CODELs and TAGs, that\'s all...now everyone on the list expects those planes to go there. And will be equally pissed if they don\'t get them. Puerto Rico is not a BRAC location, that was an ANG initiative...The JCA is crazy hot political stuff right now; every BRAC\'d unit wants \'em, but there aren\'t enough to go around and they don\'t come in fast enough. Bad juju...in many ways.
  12. No AFSOC in the CURRENT AMP program. 222 slick, standard combat delivery Herks...all but 14 are ARC. Given how much this program has changed, I wouldn\'t expect this to be the final laydown, either.
  13. Well...I can tell you that the current program of record is 222 aircraft. That can always change down the road, but the official number is 222 C-130 AMPs...all slick H2s, H2.5s, & H3s. Any other number is incorrect (and it hasn\'t changed since the Nunn-McCurdy restructure and the DoD made the 222 decision.) At least until someone takes the money away...
  14. Fault lies with PMs and senior leadership above them changing their requirements...there\'s enough blame to spread to a lot of folks. It ultimately affects the line guys/gals; who knows what the final mix will be. I personally found it irresponsible to take the H1s out of the AMP line...they\'re getting new CWBs, and very similar to H2s, so development wouldn\'t be too much $ (hell, most of it was already done) and we\'d finally have only 2 types of Herks in the MAF...C-130 AMPs and C-130Js. Well, except for Nashville...
  15. Got scaled back by OSD last year. Only 222 (all slick H2/H2.5/H3s) will currently receive the mod. Obviously ARC heavy. 3d one is in conversion now (H3 from Charlie West I think) for the test phase.
  16. Yup...nothing to do with airlift, only because of the fact the unit has a long history. It was the Robins tanker group most recently, bombers before that. Some kind of big worksheet goes into the process, and apparently the older the designation, the more points it is worth. Guess who is in charge of running the worksheet...you got it, personnel. Figures.
  17. I\'d say it more like \"non-AD low UTE rate aircraft last\"...because no matter how well they\'re maintained, the 38k EBH=restriction applies...but the mx no doubt helps reliability.
