  1. Okay, I have some news on my progress. Unfortunately, this is a campaign coin and the only one like it is @ the 4th SOS, but it belongs to the Air Commando Association, and is not for sale. If you are interested, I talked to the Booster club and they will have new Spooky coins in later next week.

  2. This shutdown is there any possibility it happens when you shut off the hydraulics to check the pumps. I have heard of depot swapping cannon plugs accidentally (fuel shutoff and hydraulic shutoff) and when the hydraulic switch is turned off the engine flames out, just a thought.

  3. Happened to a 9th SOS crew while TDY to Turkey, the airplane sure looked funny coming in for a landing. When we removed the dome the hardware that attaches the pitch change mechanism to the blade was laying in the bottom of the barrel assembly.

  4. Thanks for the information, I once read a book with these tidbits and many more but the name of the book escapes me. I would like to purchase this book but memory not what it used to be, you wouldn't by any chance know the name of it?

  5. :eek:On F-16.net there is a thread from 2007 about frog tossing. Some troops at Kunsan were tossing frogs into the intake of F-16's. Not a good idea.

Yea I heard it's real hard on the frogs!

  6. That's what Al meant on newer UARRSI equipped aircraft the X valves (dump) are no longer on the touchdown switches and have to be opened prior to turning on the dump pumps. When they installed UARRSI they combined the air refueling manifold with the dump manifold so they had to put switches on so you could air-refuel without just taking it in and dumping it out the wings!

  7. I've flown missions like this, both operational, mission support, and pilot pro. The only in was given any real consideration was how long the mission was. Wouldn't want to fly a 10 hr overwater nav out of LRF this way, or a trip from EDF to Hickam, out an actual recovery mission out of Hickam.

There could be any number of things to fly this way - tank leak, inop boost pump, fuel quantity problems (even though the 1 full-1 empty doesn't need any consideration with fuel qty problems, just use the "dip stick").

I read enough of SEFEGeorges report, he knows the aux tank can't be dipped in the conventional way and you have to use the fuel tank gauge on the bottom of the wing

  8. Controlled by switch in the valve housing which are set to open between 15°-17° blade angle. Lights must be illuminated when the throttles are between approximately 1 inch below flight idle and maximum reverse. The lights must be extinguished above flight idle.

On our civilian birds we use them all the time. We always back it up with our torque gauges especially when coming over the gate after landing. Trust me, those green buttons haven't melt yet, at least not in the last 20 years that I've been around our Herc's.

Are you sure your not thinking of Beta lights?

  9. There is a limit to this pressure and it's not standard day the labyrinth seals are allowed a certain amount of leakage (Sorry can't remember the amount CRS and many beers) I will attempt to locate the number. Anyone with maintenance manuals if you look under the section dealing with oil dumping it should describe the procedures and state the limitations

  10. Welcome to the world of camping Dan I find if you hold the bottom of the steering wheel and just turn it the way you want the back of the trailer to go it works well BTW nice truck!,and is that a toy hauler or just a place to keep the guns while camping? Maybe I'll see ya at Blackwater State park
