Does anyone have the tail number and maybe some history of the B-model that sacrificed itself to become the AC-130U simulator at Hurlburt Field

It had the same problem in the # 2 position just my opinion possibly something with the mount Boeing used

The 25mm on the U-model works just fine! Maybe they can do it without Boeings help

During the Dash 1 power on portion of the preflight inspection we seem to have mass confusion in our squadron on a specific step, Item 8. ADI SEL switches - NORM. This setting seems to be a great debate among our engineers. Does this step refer to the ADI NORM/ADI REPEAT switch on the copilots FDMS or the ADI SEL switchs on the pilot and copilots side to select the ADIs to either NORM or SKE. And if it is the ADI NORM/ADI REPEAT switch on the copilots FDMS then why does Item 8 say switches instead of switch since there is only one of these.
One possible explanation would be a T.O. commonality issue, (which is an Oxymoron in itself) on the U-model gunship the ADI select switch would be used to select either an INS or gyro for ADI attitude reference, just my two cents worth!

Not sure if the crew that flew on the day #1 prop went to reverse in flight would agree with you or not!

One of the characteristics is that your charted in ground effect VMCA is higher than your out of ground effect VMCA.

I think what you need is the AFI 11-2C-130 which is the replacement for the 55-130
