  1. The pilot was Dougy Way, the engineer was Bobby Bottoms. and one of the loads way

Little John Lowry. I don't remember the rest. They were from the 21st at Clark. I like

quite a few others were on alert at Utapao. when they dropped the Blu 82.

  2. George, Muffs memory is good, The Engineer, did open the ramp and door with that

switch, during airdrop. I have one CCk Stan Evil Engineer living in my aeria(Bobby Bottoms)

I'll tell him Muff's memory is bad.

  3. Got to fly a shuttle, to TSN with Sam in 72, The AC's name was Pat Maher, if I remember.

correctly. One evening after returning to TSN, we had some folks from Langley TDY to

CCK, Sam and I met another Scot. a LM named David Rae. When David and Sam got to

speaking Gaelic. I figured it was time to leave. I got a spot on my shoulder for carrying him

    around, That is one character.

  4. Back in my 141 days, I hauled a Chief named Ray Snedegar to a -9 conference. He was

just grabbing a ride. He told me that it costs $1,000 a page to change a manual. Like

the -9. So you needed somebody to say "No" to some of the stuff that engineers could

come up with. This was in 1980 or so. It always seems that this stuff is turned down so

    somebody else can make money.

  5. Let me go to my old memory bank, One part was a strap that was hung around the

overhead framework supporting the Hog trough at the ramp hinge. This could be fabricated

at the parachute shop. The pully could be picked up at Home Depot or any hardware

store. As long as you could support the diameter of the static line retrever cable and

was strong enough. That's all I can remember

  6. With the Creek Party, that was going along time before that, Mid 60"s when they crew

rested at Goose Bay. They's clean out the Class 6 store. I was a bus driver, back then.

Also I worked the SAC alert mole hole. Those KC-135 crews that were comming off alert,

and going south. would fill the busses with their booty.

  7. The only survivor on that crash was the LM, Jerry Weeks. I had to go in an pick,

up the engines, and other stuff a few day afterward, Got to visit Jerry in the hospital

in Saigon. He was in a full body cast. The Engineer I was flying with on that shuttle

    was Cliff Ross.

    Thanks Glenn,

One of the problems with old timers is now I have to try to remember who asked me that question?

  8. There 2 of them, one was a trash hauler mission and one was abird going back to the states for PDM. The one you were talking about is the engineer was onboard and killed,

Candy Candalero. Bob Compton was the LM and he was at the hotel.

  9. The best one I know of is Mike Lyons. He used to eat one of those Liverwurst and onion

sandwichs, his wife would fix, (she would fix several), About an hour later. The signal

would be he would say "Oh, my stomach" That would be the signal to vacate the cock-

pit or grab the nose hose. Course was good "On Demand" He did not like smokers on the flt-deck, to. He could vanquish them to the cargo compartment, with one toot!!!

  10. Those LM Seats Muff is talking about were installed on the right side of the aircraft, They were not

near any of the dual rails handles. you usually had to climb over the wench and other goodies to

get. to the handles, to get to the rear of the aircraft, to open the ramp and door for an engines

running offload. In fact, you wanted to be back there, to get the ramp and door open, because

you were usually being chased by mortars. You needed to get ridd of the stuff ususlly Class A ammo.

After you, released the locks and the load was moving out of the aircraft, you were running to

the back following the load, to get the ramp and doors closed, because the pilot was getting

ready for take off roll. The only place for the LM, was to try to strap himself in by the paratroop

    door

  11. Go to airbusmilitary.com I think they do turn in oposition

directions. I\'m no pilot, but didn\'t the pilot in a c-130

have to kick in full right rudder rudder on takeoff roll

to compensate for engine torque. Straight line thrust
