Skip Davenport
Well, guess this is better than being blown to bits or chopped up and melted down for beer cans. At least some will still be able to enjoy the old gal.

mongo
Beer cans wouldnt be such a bad way to go. As long as it was good beer!
bobdaley
Someone asked if there were any other divable C-130\'s. The Marines sank a USN F, 149801, and a Marine KCF, 150684,14 miles SW of Morehead City NC to dive on. They are at 34 33.38N and 76 51.22W Bob
Puredrenalin
Thats pretty neat!! Would love to go dive that one!!
Guest
I wonder how deep is that C-130(I think is was a Peru airplane) that ditched in the Gulf of Mexico years ago??? I was floating for a while before it finally went down.
bobdaley
There was a Columbian Herk 1003 LAC #3572 that ditched about 200 miles East of Cape May NJ, that would be pretty deep. I never heard of a Peruvian? Bob [img size=573]http://herkybirds.com/images/fbfiles/images/3572.jpg
Guest
Well, that is the one I was thinking of, but I screwed up----I thought it was in the Gulf.... John
Railrunner130
It\'s funny how the story of the Columbian ditching gets all twisted. I guess if this accident taught us nothing else, at least we know that a ditched Herk will float under the right conditions, proving it\'s survivability. SamMcGowan
I don\'t know what the status of this lake is now since Hurricane Ike came through and flooded that area. Clute is a few miles north of the Gulf at the end of Texas 288. They had a tremendous storm surge even though the center of the storm went further east and a lot of water came ashore. The little community of Surfside which is just south of there was flooded and a lot of beachside homes were damaged beyond repair while some were swept out to sea. I\'m not sure exactly where Mammoth Lake is in relation to the shoreline but I believe it is pretty close.
