bobdaley
Can anyone confirm the Lockheed number and the tail numbers of the last 3 J's to Ramstein? Thanks Bob
118th AES Retired
I don't know the answer to the question at hand. But, I do have a comment. You might have spent time at Ramstein if........ "If you know the way to the Firehouse restaurant that serves the best authentic German food around."
TSgtRet
Hmmm don't know that one. I was at Zwei (85-89) and remember a place on Ramstein called "Chicken Every Sundae". Also remember getting lots of parts for my Ford van from the MWR junkyard. And really remember all the cars with the spotlights inside on 40 Mark Strasse outside Vogelweh (you tend to remember things like that when they are pointed out by a VERY observant 5 year old daughter). PS, didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Railrunner130
I heard that the Joint Enterprise (Joint Forge) mission will end in February. Please tell me it isn't so...
DC10FE
Sorry, Bob, but with a subject title like "Ramstein," this thread is gonna get hijacked all over the place. I don't know about the Firehouse restaurant @ Ramstein, but I do remember the German kanteen down by the motorpool at R/M. Brats & beer. If I remember correctly (a real challenge at times), wasn't there also a German kanteen near the tower? "Joint Forge" reminded me of the Reforger exercises every year. Some little VW or a house would always get accidentally crushed by an Army tank -- never failed to happen every year. Don R. topboltsto400
another 'jacker here..cantine was great, stopped in every morning for coffee and shokocroissant. lunch was "uber" as well... Firehouse was good, however I was big fan of the Wooden Spoon by sembach...El Capricios(I know, Italian in Germany??) in Ramstein village was another one of my favorites...my "date" place. Big fan of the Alpine breakfast at the hotels in the winter...Man food for a big day on the slopes-lot of calories to burn off stopped in for a few hours on the way back from a deployment...like anything, place changed drastically since I left ('04)...did manage to get a Doner for lunch, and hit the Shoppette for some eiswine and a case of my favorite-Hefeweisen!! LOVED my time there, would go back in a heart beat....J's shut the door on some of us for that option...oh well, good for J people....enjoy it!!!!,,, I did. Bookmarked. It is a very good site. In the P-3 world they move aircraft between squadrons faster than most change underwear, and these guys manage to keep up pretty good. Surprisingly, (no, not really) They are better than the Instruction the Navy puts out quarterly with aircraft locations. AviationLetter
Hi all My first post to the forum, I just joined today. I'm trying to sort out the tie-ups from tail number to construction number for some recent J's. This is what I had before reading this thread: 08-8607 5616 07-8608 5619 07-8609 5620 06-8610 5621 06-8611 5622 06-8612 5623 06-8613 5624 08-8614 5625 Much of the above came from Lars Olausson's Hercules Production List. Having read this thread, I now have this revised list: 08-8607 5616 07-8608 5619 07-8609 5623 06-8610 5620 06-8611 5619 06-8612 5621 07-8613 5624 - or FY06? 07-8614 5625 Leaving 5622 unaccounted for. Hoping some of you experts or those with contacts in LMCO can sort this out for me ? Thanks, Nige. Assistant Editor, Aviation Letter (Military Transports)
JCC140965
You have two 5619's, 07-8608 should be 5622. Rgds John
Jurgen
Hi guys, Thanks for the kind words on Scramble. I am one of many (about fifty) editors trying to keep track on what is going on in military and civil aviation. For some years now, I am responsible for the USAF and US Army database, which holds some 100,000 records. Our info is generated from many sources (factories, aviation enthusiasts, magazines and the thousands of aviation forums online). Also the input from this forum helps us out a lot. A special thanks to Bob to his enormous knowledge of the C-130. He has helped me out several times in the past. If you have any comments, updates or suggestions to improve the data in our databases do not hesitate to contact me directly or fill in the 'Send Update'- form with each database. Below a review of the 37th AS 86th AW situation, as we have it. On 1 April 209, 08-8601 was delivered to Spangdahlem AB, before being officially handed over to Ramstein AB on 7 April 2009. The rest was all flown directly to Ramstein AB. 08-8601 5609 d/d 01apr09 08-8602 5611 d/d 03jun09 08-8603 5613 d/d 14aug09 08-8604 5612 d/d 30jul09 08-8605 5615 d/d 17sep09 08-8606 5614 d/d 13sep09 08-8607 5616 d/d 11nov09 07-8608 5622 noted LM dec09 07-8609 5623 not yet delivered 06-8610 5620 d/d 23dec09 06-8611 5619 d/d 20nov09 06-8612 5621 d/d 23dec09 07-8613 5624 not yet delivered 07-8614 5625 not yet delivered Tailnumbers of the aircraft not yet delivered need confirmation. This situation is a bit different from a couple of months ago when it was thought to be like this: 08-8608 5619 08-8609 5620 08-8610 5621 06-8611 5622 06-8612 5623 06-8613 5624 06-8614 5625 I guess LM swapped a couple of airframes to expedite deliveries to Canada. freqhopping
07-8609 may now be enroute to Ramstein. A C-130 using mode-S code AE2210 with the callsign HKY99 passed through the Mid-Atlantic region today, in the Virginia area between 10-10:30 am local. I guess we'll have to wait a bit to see what shows up across the pond.
