Monty FE
Just curious how many of these ladies are still left out there in the AD/AFRES/ANG.
polcat
62nd AS (AETC) will retire its last E-model in September. The 61st and 53rd (AMC) will be the last active duty E-model squadrons. Puerto Rico ANG still has E-models, but I have not heard when their Es will be retired. Then there are the MC-130Es as Duke Field (AFRC). bobdaley
64-14859 started life as an HC-130H, then became an EC-130H, then demoded and it became an C-130H, then Robins redesignated it a C-130E. It was flown as a trainer by 16 SOS, 711 SOS, 71 RQS, 67 SOS and last by 73 SOS. It was sent to AMARG as a C-130E in 2010. It has since left AMARG. Does anyone know what happened to it? Thanks Bob

bobdaley
Jansen Thanks, I wonder if it could be flying with a DM squadron? Bob
Railrunner130
Not to totally change the subject, but Harrisburg I think has two slick Js. I went through the database and couldn't find them. Any ideas what tails they are?
Jansen
Thanks, I wonder if it could be flying with a DM squadron? Possibly...I did a quick search and it hasn't come up on Mode-S. Not to totally change the subject, but Harrisburg I think has two slick Js. I went through the database and couldn't find them. Any ideas what tails they are? I'm curious about this...Are you sure they were based there, or maybe they were visitng?
Railrunner130
I saw one of their slicks a few years back. I don't recall the tail number, but it did have the 193 in the tail number. It was a shorty-J, painted in the SOC paint scheme. Looked pretty sharp too.
Monty FE
Polecat, thanks for the info on the E-models. I wonder with all the slick J models being -30 anymore, did any of the slick shorties become EC-130Js? Does the Maryland Guard still fly them? I heard a while back they were to give them up. loadsmith
Not to totally change the subject, but Harrisburg I think has two slick Js. I went through the database and couldn't find them. Any ideas what tails they are? Check 97-1931, 96-8154, 99-1933 -- I am not certain if they are still slick exteriors but according to the photos on many websites they were as recent as last year. Railrunner130
Great find!! I'm not sure, but I think 96-8154 is mislabeled. It should be a Keesler airplane.
polcat
They are slicks used for pro sorties, airdrop, etc.
loadsmith
Great find!! I'm not sure, but I think 96-8154 is mislabeled. It should be a Keesler airplane. It originally belonged to Keesler, but once they began receiving -30s I suppose the decision was made to send the stubby to the 193d. bobdaley
193 got three Commado Solo new aircraft with the external antennas. They also got new slicks called EC's equipped to carry Capsules. Then they got 2 slicks from Keesler. They may be equipped to carry Capsules too, but USAF calls all 7 EC-130J's. They are all short. I have not eard about Baltimore, all their short J's were supposed to go to Little Rock and they have started to receive replacement C-27's. Railrunner130
I saw a new photo of a Baltimore C-130J heading up the beach the other day, so they're not out of the business quite yet.
AQUANAV
The 198th AS of the Puerto Rico ANG in San Juan is still flying our old C-130E models. Yes, folks, they still fly! And pretty well, too. They come here to McChord for their Simulator Training every year, sometimes twice a year if they can't get out of it. lol We also have onesy type units like Test Sqdns and there are always Foreign Military units with our old E models. Jansen
I'm trying to find the Mode-S hex codes for the following aircraft before they are retired. I have been able to dig up some hexcodes for some birds in AMARG and museums, but that is very tough. If I can get the codes, we can tap into the ICAO24 ADS-B broadcasts and see whether they are still flying. 3717 61-2372 3787 62-1824 3819 62-1855 3821 62-1857 3823 62-1859 3862 63-7796 3889 63-7815 3894 63-7816 3897 63-7829 3915 63-7845 3967 63-7896 3990 MC130E 62-1843 4007 MC130E 64-0523 4046 MC130E 64-0551 4062 MC130E 64-0559 4065 MC130E 64-0561 4068 MC130E 64-0562 4077 MC130E 64-0565 4080 MC130E 64-0566 4086 MC130E 64-0568 4087 MC130E 64-0571

Thanks Bob I heard rumor from someone stationed at DM that she is making a come back as an EC again. When I was at Moldy Hole she was affectionetely named Timmy after the kid from South Park because of all the problems it would have.
