bobdaley
https://picasaweb.google.com/michalkrsek/MaranaPinalPark#5926428707266571858 I just got a request to help identify a C-130 at Marana Airport Pinal in AZ. I knew of some ex USAF Herks and some civilian Herks being there years ago but nothing recent. The picture says Sept 2013. I don't have a clue, can anyone help. Bob I do wonder if it was an old pic, with an incorrect date?
DC10FE
Bob, Could you contact the photographer, or is he the one requesting help? The only thing I can say is that it's an A-model by the cabin window configuration. Don R. Don I e mailed him, no answer yet. Spectre623
Not sure it's an A model Don as there appears to be only one drain mast on #3 engine , A's had 2. Also looks like a LOX filler port on the right w/w pod. Been a long time but I think the rescue birds had a LOX system for the back enders. Fritz Wester
Sorry it is NOT Pinal, but it is an "A" Model Fritz why not Pinal? also do you know anything about a camo cockpit at Coolidge. Maybe 58-0729? Bob Edited December 24, 2014 by bobdaley
bobdaley
Fritz was right, it was not Pinal. I got a reply from the photographer and he said it was from a yard near DM. I think I found it 56-0484 3092. What do you think? Bob
Fritz Wester
Pretty sure it was one of National Metals airplanes cut up about 4 years ago on a piece of their land next to DMI's yard. Wombat will know for sure.
bobdaley
Fritz If that is the right picture it was the herk owned by Mace that had been in the Minden Yard and scrapped. Bob
Wombat
Bob and Fritz, That is 56-0484 and was in the Minden yard before HVF dragged it out for shredding. IAR got the engines. Not sure of the exact date, but it would have been close to October 2011. Wombat
