This was the first aircraft I was assigned to at Naha. Taken at CRB fuel cell after being shot 13 times through the wings and belly and forced to land at Katum RSVN in Jan 1968 (Tet). I was flying my first mission "in country" quite exciting.

A nice report by the AC . As good as a medal to me, and might serve as boots on the ground if needed. Thanks Mike

  16. Good deal, too bad it took so long! Did you file for a DD 215 correction of the 214? Or did you let somebody else do it? I think it is a form # 1095 . I have never done that, but I have not yet needed to prove boots on the ground. I have been treated very well by the VA so haven't felt the need to get it straightened out. Personally I think I have more than a year on the ground out of the 33 months I went in-country and my Blind Bat missions. Now you have gotten me thinking that I need to get off my butt and do something! It would be a hell of a note if I came down with something that required proof that I don't have on my 214. Thanks for the post, and I hope you are doing well. By the way, you must have been some kind of hero getting two bronze stars and that Gallantry Cross!😎 Ken PS I just noticed I said almost the same thing 2 years ago! Now, I am embarrassed. 😊
  17. I see that a guy by the name of Dave Glanville just joined! Could you possibly be the Dave Glanville from CCK that ran around with the elite group, the original base slobs? If so, welcome back, several of us have been talking about you. Mostly good things🙄 I will be watching to see if there are two Dave Glanville's. Ken --from Sheep Dip, MT
  18. Dave, you have returned?  You are the same Dave pictured in my gallery aren't you?

Speak up! Especially if you were one of the original "base slobs"

Ken ( from Sheep Dip Montana)!

      I have indeed!

lost my address book, somehow, when I changed ISP's a few years ago so lost touch with a buncha folks!

      I'm not yet dead.

I think that the last I knew, you’d been in an accident with your truck? Or was that me?

      so, whacha been up to?

Yes, I got tipped over in an intersection!! My fault --got a ticket!  Insurance bought me one just like it but newer and had some change left over!

It's good to hear you ain't dead.  How are you and your wife doing. The last time I heard from you that there were similar medical problems with both of you. How are you doing now?

I am doing just fine, and my health is good. The VA replaced both of my knees in 2015 and they are just perfect. I walk ourt in the hills off-road several days a week and since the knees were replaced I have averaged right at 330 miles a year!  I am also in better shape than I have been in. And, I am still overweight. I retired in 2013 on my 67th birthday, but worked training & replacing my my replacee. I haven't worked since 2015.

Steve and Red and I were talking about you the other day and Steve came up with a reprimand that was given to Red for abandoning his buddy. (me)! Do you remember that?

Well, I have got to go now but here is my e-mail address  [email protected]

I think we can also talk privately on this forum .

Stay in touch, I am happy to see your are still kicking!

      Ken

  19. Leland, I'm hoping that you have a good birthday and more to come! Ken
  20. I know this month has quite a few birthdays in it, but since I didn't write them down, I can't remember all of them. So, all of you Feb. birthday guys------HAPPY BIRTHDAY Casey, is there a way to get the birthday features working again? Thanks, Ken JJust found a poor but old picture I took of Mt. Fuji on my way home to the world (after 33 months) in June 1970.
  21. Update-----I just googled CCKAB Reunion 2019 and found all about it! Details and costs etc. We ain't there yet? Ken
  22. Sounds interesting. Details would help! Ken CCK Crew Chief 62-1804 Mar. 69-June 70
  23. Good one Sonny! Merry Christmas to you and all of you forum members (and lurkers)! Ken
  24. When I got to CCK, I was a seasoned veteran from Naminoue Okinawa! But I believe I had an instructor with me! Steve Mudge was his name! He and a several other guys had already served a 13 month tour there, and got sent back after several months in the states! By then, I had also learned the ropes in Ubon also!! Later when at CCK I learned them in Bangkok also. (the Bangkok Shuttle)! Those were some unforgettable times ! Some good and some not so good! Ken Just to jog your CCK memories!
  25. Do any of you old Naha guys remember this book? I have asked about it before, but I called it the Naminoue Kapers due to CRS. Remember the Ryukian Islands were called the Keystone Islands? Anyway two guys named Dick Moore & Frank Mortenson wrote and printed this little book in 1967 and sold it for fifty cents. It has a lot of drawings/cartoons about the night life/girls in the bar districts in Okinawa. If you explored any, you know they were all the same! I just found the one I bought in 1967 and was sure I had owned one. I will eventually post pics of the covers and a few of the inside pages to see if you remember this book. I know that most of you will remember fondly the antics that are illustrated and acted out in the book. It's like a "this happened to me" story. At least for me most of it is humorous and kinda true! I can say, it is not professionally written , but you might have one you need to re-read----if I had bought it before I went downtown, I could have saved many dollars buying drinkee's for the Mitchiko's, and the Kimiko's etc. Also, waiting for the local lovely to meet you outside waiting for your date after the bar closed. Also, "mamasan have meeting, ten more minutes" . Also, the bomb hits when you and a couple other guys are all waiting for the same girl! All of those "drinkee's" you guys paid for on your $90.00 a month salary wasted! Of course if you did this again, you were a real sucker!! Just think of the fun we had during the war!! Ken
