  1. She's been sitting in the hot humid GA sunshine with little or no TLC for roughly 30 years. She can't be in much better condition that the embargo'd Iranian birds up the road at Lockheed are. I saw her 20 years ago, and she was getting "tough" back then. A sad sight.. Frank C.
  2. Is 69-5820 still on the ramp over there ? I remember her with the 54 at Pease AFB before transferred over to the UK. Frank C
  3. GMAT, They also used the horizontal stabilizers as they were larger than the pre-mod'd 135's and were needed for additional pitch authority for the "new" 707 turbofans (TF-33's ?). Thud105
  4. Were these three airframes used by the Boise guard or just parked/stored pending AMARC transfer ? Frank I was told "Kept in Flyable storage" Bob
  5. Roger that. I posted a reminder a few days ago but it went " - - " due to a posting botch on my part. Those guys truly deserve our respect and admiration for their mission dedication and sacrifice. I personally salute and extend my sincere appreciation for everyone involved on that mission. I will never forget those "Who Had The Guts To Try". Frank Carberry Honorary Member, 8th SOS
  6. The Desert One anniversary is upon us once again. As always, let's take just one moment from our daily grinds to remember those who gave it all. We owe them so much more. To those who were involved: I salute, thank, and admire you all for having "The Guts To Try". so long ago. Frank Carberry Honorary Member, 8th SOS
  7. Noted that the forward fuselage scanner windows are absent. Does anyone know if there any plans to utilize the forward hatch panel as in the AC-130 for scanners ? Frank
  8. Bob, THANKS for the heads up. Frank
  9. Can anyone link me to Jerry's email address? Any brief would be most appreciated. TIA Frank Carberry
  10. Eidosusa, Is 69-5820 still over there ? I remember her when she was with the 54 ARRS at Pease AFB as a straight "N" model MANY years ago.. Just curious of she still struts her stuff. Thanks Frank C.

    Rc c-130

It's an outstanding accomplishment thus far and is certainly an item to be most proud of. As a "constructive" comment: maybe some more research in the paint scheme would add that final touch of realism. At least a black nose radome would be much more "Herkyer".. I agree with the rest of you guys about flying that puppy.. May Lloyds of London will underwrite it !? ThudDriver
  12. Skip, Can you give me the coordinates to the download site ? 189.00 is a bit out of my grasp as well ! THANKS as always Frank
  13. Gang, Would anyone have a copy of this publication that I can read. I have a long time association with this event, and would love to read it. I presented a memorial model of a Talon to the 8th a few weeks after the sortie. As of 2 years ago it, it was still standing strong. Thanks in advance Frank Carberry
  14. Guys/Gals, Let's take a moment and remember those lost at Desert One. 29 years ago, they "Had The Guts To Try".. May we never forget their sacrifice.. Frank C.
