WxFE
Hey, I was just channel surfing while recovering from rotator cuff surgery and stopped to watch Shockwave on the History Channel. This episode had about a 10-15 minute segment on Credible Sport. Had some nice video clips of takeoffs and of course the crash as well as computer generated graphics. This is episode #30 and will be rerun at 0100 CST.
Guest
I saw that too. They did a really good job. Lots of experts. Well done History Channel!
donwon
I saw the first few Years Of VirtNam on the Nat Geo. channel a few days ago. I thought I made a post about it but can\'t find it anywhere. Now I am just trying to see if this will post.
mc130fe
Hey wasn\'t our CSAF the copilot on the Sport crash at Duke?

Norty didn\'t start flying the airplane until later.
airnav
General \"Norty\" was a pilot on Operation Eagle Claw.
DC10FE
bobsoc, are you sure it was a Lockheed crew on 74-1683? It was a Dyess airplane & I seem to remember one of the FE\'s there talking about being on that crew. I wasn\'t at Dyess at the time; I got there about 3 years after the crash, but the FE was still there. Don R.
bobsoc
Don, The planes did come from Dyess, but once they were modified they were flown by crews from the 1st, 7th, and 8th SOS; in addition to the Lockheed test crew.
DC10FE
Thanks. It was a long time ago & many brain cells have perished since then, but you don\'t think another FE would ever lie or exaggerate, do you? Never mind -- rhetorical satire. Thanks for clearing it up, though. Don R.
Jake
One of the FE\'s flew later for Southern Air Transport. Earl was his first name, I have since forgotten his last name (I looked on the SAT crew page but he isn\'t listed) I thought he was in the military but could be mistaken
Skip Davenport
FYI - Norty was not a pilot on the mission into Desert One nor was he a pilot on the test team for Sport. The crews for this mission can be found in the book \"Praetorian Starship\" pages 216 &
airnav
B) My apologies for the errant post on Gen. Norty. My brain cell\'s are in degeneration mode! Maybe too many gunship missions, along with post-mission Crown Royal ! Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Kurt
fltsload
However General Schwartz does have YMC-130 flight time according to his bio.
Skip Davenport
True -- as I said he wasn\'t a pilot on the test program -- after the crash yes
