AMPTestFE
Can anyone tell me when/what tail # the APN-241 was first delivered on the plane from the factory to the USAF?
US Herk
Wouldn't it be one of the first H3 at the 50th back in '93 or so?
AMPTestFE
Well, I wasn't sure. Although, the 50th's aren't the first H3s. Cheyenne has those, but the Red Devil's are a close second.
Plaprad
Didn't some of the late model 2.5's have it, or was it added later on?
INS/Dopplertroop
From LSN Vol.26 No. 1 Jan-Mar 1999 "As stated earlier, Lockheed Martin began installing the AN/APN-241 on the Hercules aircraft with Serial Number 5310. The basic radar installation on the C-130H and the C-130J is the same, however, the user interface is vastly different." "Serial Number 5310, a fiscal year 1992 C-130H aircraft. Later C-130H aircraft introduced a Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance (TCAS) overlay capability integrated with the Mode S IFF. The radar was also integrated into the C-130J." AF Serial is 92-1531 and it does belong to the Wyoming Air Guard,
AMPTestFE
Thanks for the info...I was looking through the LSN volumes, but may have quit before I hit 1999.
INS/Dopplertroop
Sure. No problem. Love those LSNs. They are a real treasure trove. Intended to keep everyone up to speed on the lastest, they turned out to be excellent historical archives. Later
jimsmith130
I believe the APN-241s were first installed on the Louisville H2.5s. That was the primary reason for going to the H2.5 unofficial designation. Jim
C130H2FE
I believe the APN-241s were first installed on the Louisville H2.5s. That was the primary reason for going to the H2.5 unofficial designation. Jim The H2.5 as they are call were done by TCTO, at the same time EFIS was installed, the guard was going to do the entire fleet of H's but since AMP was going to "fix" everything the mods stopped. Just goes to show you how old the AMP program is! My 2 cents
Railrunner130
We in Delaware finally got our '84s (and the '90) 241ed up about a year ago. I thought we were last on the list due to BRAC.
AMPTestFE
Does anyone know if there are any H2s out there that have not gotten upgraded to the 241?
polcat
Yes, we have one but don't remember which unit it came from. It's one of our early H2s that we've got.
AMPTestFE
You're AD, I assume. My guess is that it's either the Dobbins or NY ANG bird. Thanks
tinyclark
I know Pope has some that haven't been modified. Not sure what year they are, but I think they are H2s.
