SonnyJ
The Gabon AF just finished towing L-100-20 TR-KKB c/n [cn]4710[/cn] from the Libreville airport to the port on the other side of the city to be transported by ship to OGMA. I will try to post pics of the aircraft move. Merry Christmas, Sonny
DC10FE
I'll never understand why the African aviation community lets their airplanes detiorate in the heat and humidity for years and then move them to places like OGMA or Marshall's to be refurbished. After spending millions of dollars, TR-KKB will probably be flown back to Libreville, greeted by government and military dignitaries, flown for a time and then parked again. As a South African captain I flew with at Transafrik used to say when he'd see a derelict or crashed airplane, "AWA, Africa Wins Again." Don R. I think they stand a better chance this time to keep it flying.
larry myers
Holy cow, that bird looks to be beyond economical repair. The overhaul facility has their work cut out. Massive corrosion throughout the airplane is sure to be but one of many huge issues. Further, one has to wonder who is going to pay the bill which is bound to be outrageous. bobdaley
OGMA is a great overhaul facility, but!!! Looks like beer cans to me, but US taxpayers are probably paying. Gabon got 5 new herks, this one, two they sold to the UAE, and one to Tepper. I think they have one flier. TR-KCC an H. Bob
DC10FE
Here is a literal translation of the caption from the article that SonnyJ posted. Of course, in Africa, nothing goes as planned. Don R. "The exceptional convoy C130 of the Gabonese army did not go as planned. Initiated Friday late night, the plane that was heading to the port of Owendo, has been blocked in Libreville Lalala exchanger until morning. Causing traffic problems and many onlookers rather stunned."

larry myers
Is this airplane a C-130? Asking the question because don't see the flight deck floor or forward viewing transparencies. Did Lockheed produce herks without these windows?
Guest
It is a C-130 (L-100 civilian version). L-100's do not have clear vision widows and kick windows.
MHeflin
Are you sure those photos weren't taken on the highway outside of Bob Sykes Airport? Those blue flash lines down the bodyline look mighty familiar.
