  1. I think that is a misprint for the HC-144 the new USCG Rescue plane that replaced their Falcons. It is a model of the Airbus/EADS Casa 235, I think. Bob
  2. Bill That is the third time the the Italians suckered us on the C-27. The first was the ones in Panama. Then the ones to Afghanistan, and then the J models for the Army, that the AF demanded and got, then did not want them and they went to the ANG and they did not want them and they ended up with the Coasties and the Forest Service. I don't think any of them are flying. The Italians laughed all thew way to the bank. Bob
  3. I first got to Panama on rote in 1971, What a great time. I always come back when I can. You would not believe the growth. Beautiful skyscrapers and resorts everywhere. I am afraid walking downtown that someone will walk up to me and say hi Dad! The wife would not be understanding! Bob
  4. A long time ago an FE told me, they only worked in the 2 and 3 position but all engines were the same so they could be interchangeable. Bob
  5. Thanks, it is probably the very low speeds I get here in Panama. I'll check them when I get home. Thanks again Bob
  6. Casey Could not get the links to work? Bob
  7. Does anyone know, did all 8 of the Libyan Herks at Lockgreed get scrapped? Thanks Bob
  8. The C-27's that were scrapped were ex Italian AF. Most of the ex Howard C-27's are at AMARG, a few were with State Dept for awhile. Too cold in Texas, in Panama for 2 weeks. Howard is now called Panama Pacifica and is being redeveloped, saw it yesterday. Looks like it will be really nice. Unfortunately the Ancon Inn is gone. Wife is keeping her eye on me, so I have not been able to check out a lot of the old haunts. Bob
  9. Anyone know which 130 it was. The picture above says "Stock Photo"? Bob Don, Won't be long!!
  10. 48th has been activated 3 times at Forbes in B's 1965-1967, Forbes again in E's from 71-73 and lastly at LRF from 2003-now. 62 along with 61 have been continuously in Herks since 1956/57. Probably a good idea to keep the 62 nameplate for the heritage. BTW of the active duty Herks; 50 the and 61 from 1956 39,40,41, 62 from 1957 36,37 from 1966 2 from 92 and 48 Bob
  11. Be a shame to lose the 62nd nameplate. 62 has a long history with the Herk going back to 1957 at Sewart. bob

  13. There was an article last week about a new J being delivered to 61AS at LRF? Two questions. The article said it was the 9th J for the 61st. I had 5734,36,38,40,45,48,52,56 Is there another one? The article said it was the final J for the 61st. That seems unusual, most squadrons now seem to have a UE of 14? Anyone help? Thanks Bob
  14. Is the 62nd now an active duty associate Squadron with the 154TRS? Thanks Bob
  15. Andy I had not heard about that one. Thank you. Any idea when? Bob
  16. I never could figure out how the USAF got such low usage rates out of all different types of aircraft. T-43's and C-9's, flying mostly airline type profiles, got no where near airline flying rates. USAF herks go to the boneyard with 20000 hours on them and C141's were "Worn out" with 40000 hours.
  17. That is amazing 25000 hours on a T-56. Bob
  18. That is my guess too. I hope we can confirm it. Bob
  19. Don Your old airplane 74-2063 now at CT is the current High time USAF Herk with 27875 hours. That I know of the highest time USAF herk ever was 62-1820 that had over 37831 hours before it went to the bone tard. Bob
  20. Here is an article on 62-1857 going to CLT. Big A/C's are in evidence. http://www.nwfdailynews.com/military/hurlburt/saving-a-c-130-aircraft-1857-1.227564 and here is 62-1863 flying recently as an HC-130P http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=7182168 Bob I added two pics of 62-1825 cut up. Still thinking it is an EC-130E in the Harvey point pic, but which one? Bob

In anticipation of getting KC-130J's for the USMCR, the Marines are transferring some KC's to the USN for use as C-130T's Here is one of the first ones I have seen With NY painted out on the tail, USNavy added on the side and no external tanks. 163591 of VR-55 Pt Mugu. Bob
  23. Thought I'd try this again. Jansen are you out there? Anyone heard from him? Bob
  24. Still looking for 62-1801. Definitely not in Poland. Not on US inventory list.Nor on the AMARG list. Maybe at Ft Campbell? Can anyone help? Thanks Bob
  25. Don We may be getting old. All the Herks I ever flew are either beer cans or waiting to be beer cans in the Bone Yard. There maybe only 4 or 5 74 H models left at LRF and 14 at Yokota. The rest are in the Guard or at Shepherd. 33 of the 53 74 H models are still on the Inventory.
