  1. Attention Sonny!! Have you read this letter from Becky Sager? I am thinking, that if anyone on this forum could help, it might be you! Your times and dates and Blind Bat & squadron affiliation are similar I think. I have been trying to remember that name, but just can't come up with it in my memory. Ben and I surely must have crossed paths at one of the three places!! Ken
  2. MHeflin, I bought and read that book on Kindle, and I wasn't to impressed with it either!! I guess I wasn't into that much fiction and like you said, the technical aspect of the book was sketchy at best!! (for example the landing gear doors were called belly doors throughout the story). I think I was expecting more than I got out of it!!! Wasn't cheap either!!!! Ken
  3. Dan, Just chamber another round and shoot it out!!!---Just kidding of course!!! I'm sure you have already field stripped the pistol, removed the barrel, and driven the bullet out from the rear with a wooden dowel by now!! I have done that many times due to people's careless reloads, but wouldn't have guessed Mag Tech ammo would would have one like that!!! I would guess that they will question whether it was actually their ammo if you tried to make a stink about it! But, I would still let them know about it with pictures!! Being your carry weapon is the worst part of the story. Maybe you should consider getting a cane gun since a canes have been mentioned here recently!! By the way, I am glad you didn't have that happen when it was needed in a critical situation!! Now, let's get started on that 12ga. cane gun!, Ken
  4. I would like to wish all of the great guys & gals on this forum a Happy Thanksgiving! This message also goes out to all of you browsers/lurkers that have not YET joined our community!! Ken Carlson
  5. Yeh mongo, you are definitely right about that! I knew I wanted to be a part of acft. maint. when I saw the trainer at Shepperd--"what a beauty" Ken
  6. Chris, I just got done looking at your new pics in the users gallery and it looks like #877 and it's old crew chief are both --ready for an "on time block" Ken
  7. Well said Casey. And thanks to your perseverance you have managed to keep this place running!! Ken
  8. Yes, Lowry, how could I forget that place! I went there for Weapons & Munitions School and somehow ended up at Shepherd in Turbo Prop Acft. Maint.
  9. Hey Giz , so you got to meet Chris! He's not a bad guy--for an older gentleman that is! I don't know what Mary sees in him!!!! As far as you being real, I will wait to see what Chris says! I suppose he will have some pictures!!! Isn't it neat that some of the guys on this forum are getting to meet each other!!! Maybe someday we can have a Forum reunion!!! Well anyway, Ken
  10. Just thought I would bring this to the top! Maybe we can lure in some of our old friends who are just browsing!!! Ken
  11. Chris, have a nice trip, take lots of pictures and say hi to Giz Ken
  12. Boy, I don't know about that!!! I know the guy and it might go to his head!!! Really james, I don't think it would be a bad idea!! I don't think Chris would agree! Ken
  13. Great job Casey, When I joined this forum 5 years ago, I had no idea it would become such an important part of my life!!! I have met a lot of great guys through this forum and even one personally! (that would be you Chris) aka tinwhistle!! I hope you can keep us ALL together for another 5 Ken
  14. Thanks guys, You have all answered my question. When I started Tech School at Shepard I was assigned to AFSC 43131F--and of course didn't know what it was until the 1st. SGT looked it up for me and it said Turboprop Acft. Maintenance!! Of course, that didn't help much as I had never heard of a C-130!! I did know what a B-47 was though!! Larry, refresh my memory--when I passed my 3-level training at Naha, I became a 5-level! What were the requirements for a 7-level and then the 9-level!! I don't know if I ever knew anybody with a 43191F rating!! Now's the time to be asking those questions-----I should have known them when I was in!!! Ken Oh, I now remember that it took a 7-level to sign off a Red X !!!! (I think)
  15. I still have the Blind Bat cap that I was wearing in my crew picture in 1968! (in my "users gallery") Ken
  16. Sonny, I am sure I knew him, but without a face, I wont know for sure! Do you have him in any of your pics? I was looking at a guy in the mirror the other day, and was sure I knew him but can't remember his name!!!!!! I think I knew him at Naha though! Ken
  17. I have a question to all of you former jet engine bomber guys. What was your AFSC when you left your schools? What did it take to cross-train to the turbo prop AFSC? Just FTD school or was there more schooling other than OJT? Ken
  18. I don't recognize any of the guys, but I do recognize the airplane and the missile site and "easy area" in the background!! Ken
  19. Well said Sonny! From a 21st "wanna-be"---------NOT!!!! Ken
  20. Duh, that's easy! You're the best lookin one!!!!!!!
  21. Hey Sarg, I remember hearing that song I think!! I think at that time some of the Blind Bat guys were wearing the black beret!!!! When I was on a Blind Bat crew in 68, nobody was wearing them!!! Am I correct in thinking the words were in reference to the Blind Bat mission?? By the way, welcome to the forum, Ken
  22. Sam, Yes there was a difference in the four squadrons!!!! The 35th had me, and Sonny always wished it had him too!!!!! What do ya say to that Sonny!!!! Ken
  23. Chris, nice looking group! Too bad you guys couldn't fine a Herk to pose on!!!!! Ken
  24. Dallas, that is one fine desktop!!! I have a C-130 screensaver on mine!!! Ken
  25. Muff, I guess I should check it out more often. As you know, I have already joined that forum but have not spent much time on it. Thanks for reminding me, Ken
