  1. Jane Fonda was pissed because QVC decided to cancel her bullshit appearance. she said it was because of unfounded accusations by a bunch of radicals............................. Kerry was a handout hero, made things to fit his purpose.......... and a final rant, have you seen the stuff about I think it was the Supreme court declarin' the Stolen Valor act unconstitutional, because it violated free speech????? What am missin'???????????? Giz ( I think)
  2. Oh yeah, I realize this, and that's fine. What i was referring to was when they do an interview with a guy, who never once mentioned anything like that and since he is out, they assume he is retired. I don't think very swingin' weiner they show is out on medical etc.Bunch of incompetents don't know the difference. Giz
  3. Anybody who disagrees or cannot grasp the validity of this post just ain't been there. Well said, brother, well said. Giz
  4. You see that "retired' all the time when anyone with any military experience is shown or quoted. That paragon of historical accuracy and information Discovery channel and its off spring, TLC, ect, all do that. Watch any show, like from the Vietnam era, and you will see a PFC or specialist fourth or what ever, and their pop-up will always say "Retired". hey reckon, I'm "USAF C-130, loadmaster, Staff Sergeant retired." and I only did four years. As an additional point, these channels are laden with crap and nobody wanting to learn accurate information should use them as a source. I am big into 18th century American history, especially the time period of 1747 to 1771, and they ain't got much right yet..........and, from the 'Military Channel" did you know that C-130's have canvas seats and no air conditioning???????? How the hell can we get some information from the media to make decent decisions when they ain't got a damn clue?????????????????? My daily curmudgeon report........... giz
  5. Like i say Sparks, ya just gotta out live 'em. Sometimes their policy is "DOPE THE VET, HE"LL FORGET!!!!!!! or "BYE and Bye, they are all gonna die, just let the paperwork lie." We cannot let that continue to happen. It didn't take six months to get us in the military, it didn't take six months for them to put us into 'situations." Giz
  6. You are absolutely right, Check/set. As a matter of fact, NKP is listed as one of the hot spots for the use. From what i can determine, and I may be wrong, (ask my wife, I usually am) it was used as a perimeter weed control, and if i remember right, weren't the hootches we enlisted swine aircrew, and I guess others as well, lived in screened-in type structures fairly close to that???????? of course, that agent orange stuff didn't do much for cobra control, but that is a different adventure................... But above all else, just keep diggin' for your entitlement. I have been waitin' almost two months now, but that ain't unusual. Just try to outlive the bastards, and also take care of you other possible medical issues. They hand this stuff out to illegals and everybody else who did not a damn thing to earn it, we gotta go for ours which we DID earn. Oh yeah, one post on this thread states that C-130's were used to spray AO?????????Is that correct?????? All I ever knew of was C-123's, and i think maybe, to a limited extent Hueys??????????? Giz
  7. Bob, I was on that same gaggle..............we had a double crew. Sly Snyder was the other loady with me. I am so sorry i can't remember the rest. Spent something like three days at Hickham, Vice Pres Agnew came through there on Air Force 2. I still have my genuine Hawaiian shirt I got in Honolulu..............Somebody told me it may be worth some bucks now, since it is nearly 40 years old. BTW, how about the 316th TAW pin and the Challenge coin Jerry had made???????? What a great job. That man just keeps on doin' good, doesn't he????????? Giz
  8. Hell that opens things up to 9/10's of all em..........Happy birthday Elvis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heard that one??????????? I know it may be minor in one aspect, but still shows that some people just ain't got a freakin' clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND where has Hilary been lurkin' lately???I wonder if she is submissive to Slick Willy????????? Is this the country we help defend?????????? Where the hell did it go??? Giz
  9. Oh my God, Bob, you ain't gonna send us another ex-governor, ex yoke-yanker for president are you??????? 'Course in comparison............... Giz
  10. Hey man, there is a real possibility my wife was workin' at Riverside in post-partum I think it was when your son was born. She may have actually been around you all. And do any of you remember goin' out drillin' holes in the sky just to burn up the fuel they had already had in storage, while we were waitin' in line for gas?????? I got out just about the middle of that crap, and the movin' company had no fuel to deliver my stuff, and then the driver got shot at down in NC some place and wouldn't come up this way on account of it...................................
  11. Ahh, yes Boone's farm, and Annie Greenspring. God I can still taste the puke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Uhh, I mean I have heard that what would happen....................LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What a time, what a time!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Remember the hot dog joint in that little strip mall on the beach end of mercury Blvd??? We called it Furry Titties, corruption of the real name and right beside it was a fabulous pizza joint owned by two brothers??????????AND did you know it was damn near impossible to get a bottle of Ripple at a 7-11, and get it drank before you got to the next 7-11?????? Now i only know this from rumor, mind you!!!!!!!!!!!! Giz
  13. Oh I remember the open air market well. Used to go there to get steaks to barbecue. I hadn't thought of that place in years. I got married after the VN rote and still have her as well, after 39 years. We lived in an apartment up by the Chevy dealer on J. Clyde Morris Blvd. She worked at riverside Hospital, then we moved up to a house almost on the James river near Denby ( or however ya spell it) until i got out in '74. I don't think many of us realized how good the times were then, all things considered, especially the way thing are now. Rex was a hydraulics shop guy, if i remember right, and now has some kind of nautical engineering business down there, around surrey ithink. I'll keep up with ya Giz
  14. What????? One in a million????????????? Ya mean there are 310 more people in this country like me??????????? Oh dread the thought!!!!!!!! naw, I ain't nothin' special, by any means. I DO have my moments, too. But I am just a hillbilly kid who was brought up with the notion that ya gotta do the right thing. I somehow developed an ability to get ideas and such across to a wide range of people, and i try to put that to good use. and if this thread helps just one person, then that is fine by me. AND I am just one of so many great people who visit this site. Brought together by a big ol' flyin' machine to the benefit of the whole world, whether we will ever know how much or not. Thanks to all of you, that I can gratefully call brothers, and sisters laod clear Giz
  15. You ain't got any idea how good this makes me feel. Hope nothin' serious shows up, but you will have a good baseline for the future which will make other changes or issues more obvious. Good luck, brother...........Now the rest of ya jump on board, too Giz
  16. Well, I am still waitin' on my further evaluations. Of course, havin' to deal with the Peoples' Republick of Maryland in this sitaution, who knows how long this will go. But I have started a campaign with all my buddies who are vets to get into the programs, I may very well help one of them get a diagnosis for something in time to do something about it. As I have said in other posts, as a result of my military service and my subsequent service as a career firefighter, I have a lot of potential for developing some kind of health issues. But, on the other hand, I have taken fairly good care of myself, for the most part, no way near what I should have perhaps, but I have had a whole bunch of various tests over the past three months or so, and basically all that is wrong with me is old age. But, I don't think I look 62, sometimes I feel it, but the whole point for me is to encourage guys, and gals as well, to get a decent checkup and all, some place, some how. Time is our enemy, and like I said before, my wife is an oncology nurse, and I bet she tells me three or four times a week about how so many new patients come in, in really dire circumstances, that possibly, if it had been diagnosed sooner, the outcome would be so much better. We have two friends, right now, one a nurse believe it or not, a damn good one, and a guy I have known since grade school, that have conditions that are going to impact them very heavily, and both had just not taken the time to get a check up, and yes, the guy has prostate cancer, one of the vicious types, and it has involved his colon and rectum now.All this is comin' from a guy who absolutely hates doctors and such, and am certainly not a hypochondriac, but I have learned some mighty strong lessons. So ALL of you who may read this, think about yourselves and others in your life, and get yourselves checked out.It ain't for the money,by no means, damn few, if any, on this particular site, would even consider that. Our old bird still flies because people like you all took care of them, repaired them, flew them right, and by damn we should do the same for ourselves. Load clear, ramp and door comin' closed Giz
  17. sparks, you better start packin' your bags, 'cause there is gonna be another reunion in Hampton, next year. Nothing has been set up yet, but Brother Rex Riley is gonna honcho it. If it is anything like the one at WP, you sure don't want to miss it..........If ya want, I'll fill ya in on anything that comes up Giz
  18. it's totally incredible that a common pencil could do such damage. Was it a #2????LOL!!!!!!!!!! Why did the bad guys shoot guns and rockets when a couple dozen Ticondorogas would do the trick??? Any guesss as to why the exhaust pipes where so susceptible??? Giz
  19. We just can't let folks like that be forgotten. Every one of us, at one time or other, could have been lost as well. No matter the circumstances, a loss of a crew and a great airplane is always a tragedy. The picture will be hung in our meeting room. Giz
  20. I was at my local Vietnam Veterans of America chapter house today, and a guy brought in a drawing of a C-130, with WV ANG markings on it, and had listed the names of the crew members lost in the crash of the Martinsburg bird in '92. Could not believe it was that long ago. I was takin' flying lessons at the time, and one of the Cessnas I flew belonged to the father of the copilot who was lost in that crash, if my memory serves me right. That crashed occurred about forty miles or less from where I live. Quite a tragedy.... Giz
  21. Well, it sounds like I am not completely mad. I must have gotten third or fourth generation versions of these things, because they all seem to have the same basic undertone. Giz
  22. Is that an escape hatch forward of the MLG fairing????????? Best I can remember, my dear old 60's model E's only had one on the right side, in about that same location. Giz
  23. I sure as hell wish my department had had a 20 and out. It is a 30, minimum, at a max of 45-50%, nearly half of which you would pay back to keep the city health insurance. Plus, the People's Republick of Maryland and the Feds still tax it. AND, there is only one option you can chose that you get the full amount, and that pays you the max but stops when ya die. I am only gettin' about 78% of my "full benefit". AND I am lucky enough to be on my wife's insurance until she retires next year, then what I don't know........... There ARE departments that do the 20 and out, but that is slowly changing. It is easier to kill a guy on the job, pay that off than to provide a decent retirement. Believe me firefighting ain't no young man's job, but most people outside the profession don't really know what it is like. BUT, that was my choice, and I have to live with it. My pension is administered by the PRMd, and last year Governor Owe-Malley decided that there was a negative increase in the cost of living ( yeah freakin' right) so we got no COLA, but he was nice, said that if they actually followed the numbers, we would have actually have had our benefit reduced ( who the hell ever heard of THAT) so this year he had them reduce our COLA by the amount he kindly let us keep last year. Talk about bullshit!!!!!!!!!!! I know you retired military guys are gettin' hosed too, but you are not alone, believe me!!! Giz
  24. This one, if I recall right, was supposedly on the ground, but I can't rememebr where I heard it, after all47-41 years ago is a long time Giz
  25. You are right about the hay, Plaprad. Have been to a couple major fires in barns brought on because of that.........I just can't recall exactly what it was about the fuel tank explosion. Maybe somebody can drag it back up Giz
