  1. Canada’s Air Force will honour the 50th Anniversary of CC-130 Hercules operations in Canada at 8 Wing/CFB Trenton on 15 November, 2010. The event is open to current and former CC-130 Hercules air and ground crew who have served with the Canadian CC-130 fleets over the years. Planned events include static displays of CC-130H and CC-130J models, a history and memorabilia display by the National Air Force Museum of Canada and CC-130 Squadrons and a gala dinner at the National Air Force Museum of Canada with open reception to follow. The B-model version of the CC-130 Hercules was delivered in 1960, making it the longest serving transport aircraft to serve with the Canadian Forces. The recent arrival of the J-model promises many more years of loyal CC-130 service to Canada. Crew members and alumni of the CC-130 fleet interested in registering for the upcoming celebration or receiving additional information about planned events are asked to contact the Anniversary Committee: Email: herc50thanniversary at gmail.com Phone: Major Bill Snyder, (613) 392-2811 ext 2962 Space for the gala dinner is limited and must be reserved.

  3. Well, either China buys American made C-130Js, Brazilian made KC-390s, European A400Ms, or they make their own. It's not like he wants to sell them F-22s...
  4. I have a list of all the Italian C-130J aircraft, looking for a list of those converted to KC-130J. I've been combing pictures from the last year but since they are still being converted it is not very helpful.
  5. The Italian Air Force (AMI) has 12 C-130J and 10 C-130J-30 aircraft. Eight of the shorter aircraft have or are being converted into KC-130J tankers. Does anybody have a list? This is what I have: 5497 MM62176/46-41 First converted, w/o Nov 09 5512 MM62183/46-48
  6. 10/8/2010 - DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Join thousands of people from across the Atlanta region on October 16 and 17 at Dobbins Air Reserve Base bi-annual "Wings Over Atlanta 2010" Open House/Air Show. The free air show will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. both days. This year's premier flying acts will feature the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Other performers will include: U.S. Air Force Academy Wings of Blue - Opening Ceremony Red Eagle Dan Buchanan Gary Rower Bill Braak Smoke-N-Thunder Kent Pietsch Jelly Belly Dobbins C-130 Airdrop Otto The Helicopter F/A-18 Hornet Demo Georgia State Patrol Helo Demo Viper East F-16 Demo Sean D. Tucker/Oracle numerous military and civilian static displays With limited parking on Dobbins, base officials contracted to greatly increase the bus capacity to bring spectators onto the base. This year, the bus transportation will be at no charge from three parking lots in close proximity to the base. "Free parking will be provided at Lockheed, Six Flags White Water and Jim Miller Park. We greatly appreciate the generous donations these organizations have provided with respect to the parking which will help ensure the success of the Dobbins Open House/Air Show. These three locations will provide approximately 10,400 parking spaces for visitors, a 2,000 space increase over the prior Air Show in 2008," said Col. Timothy E. Tarchick, 94th Airlift Wing commander. Buses will start running to the base at 8:30 a.m. both days. Return rides to the parking lots will be available throughout the day. No one will be permitted entrance to the base after 1 p.m. "During our last show there were some 80 buses transporting people to and from the base," said Lt. Col. Steven Drosos, air show director. "We could have used more in 2008, so this year we greatly increased the bus requirements." "We would like to take the opportunity to thank Mr. David Hankerson, Cobb County Manager and the Cobb County Emergency Management Agency for their assistance," said Colonel Tarchick. "We also thank the local law enforcement from the Sheriff's Office, Cobb County and Marietta Police Departments who will be in place to control the heavy traffic expected in moving up to 100,000 visitors each day to and from the base and parking lots." - "Handicap parking will be provided on base with entry through the Windy Hill Gate," said Lt. Col. Timothy Martz, 94th Security Forces Squadron commander. "In today's environment, everyone must go through security prior to entering the base. As such, the patience of all attendees is greatly appreciated for this function will mirror that of a major sporting event. We anticipate a large turn-out so delays should be expected in getting such a large amount of traffic on and off base. When the air show ends we expect long lines on base for buses returning attendees to the parking lots." Due to security, visitors are not allowed to bring weapons, glass containers, backpacks, coolers, except small coolers for baby formula and medications, and/or pets to the Air Show. Baby strollers will be allowed. For additional information and updates to the show, visit www.dobbins.afrc.af.mil or www.wingsoveratlanta.com. These sites are updated daily with additional information as new performers and sponsor information becomes available.

    Idiots

The sad thing is that so many people outside the US know more about American geography than most Americans.
  8. Just because they were obsolete doesn't mean the Ruskies couldn't learn anything.
  9. Are these the first J-models with the refuelling boom? "The aircraft will feature equipment including an in-flight refuelling probe and a FLIR Systems AAQ-22 Star Safire III electro-optical/infrared sensor turret."
  10. "The first of six C-130J Super Hercules for India was flown for the first time on 4 October 2010. A company flight crew made the four-hour flight from the Lockheed Martin facility adjacent to Dobbins ARB in Marietta, Georgia. After a series of company and customer flight tests, this aircraft is scheduled for delivery to AFS Hindon, near Delhi, in December. The second and third Indian J-models are expected to be flown by early November. The six air refuelable C-130Js, which feature Indian Air Force titles in English on the right side of the fuselage and Hindi on the left (as shown here), will give the Indian Army and Air Force new special operations capabilities". 11. "The HC-130J is undergoing testing and will be delivered to Davis-Montham Air Force Base in Arizona in late 2011" -Lockheed Martin.
  12. On Saturday and Sunday, October 16-17, Dobbins ARB will be hosting the "Wings Over Atlanta 2010 Air Show and Open House" featuring the USN Blue Angels and Canadian Snowbirds. This is free to the public. For additional information on the air show, please visit the event website: http://www.dobbins.afrc.af.mil/library/wingsoveratlanta/index.asp Dobbins is just south of Lockheed Martin's Plant #6 and is where the F-22 and C-130J aircraft are flight tested before delivery.
  13. I pulled the data from the database Bob Daley sent me, figured I'd save him the work of posting it himself.
  14. Probably price...and they were available.
  15. Might want to be careful posting email addresses like that. The spambots will catch it and send you Viagra ads. I like to use the "c130c" at "aol.com" format, readable by humans but unreadable by the bots.
  16. http://www.firstair.ca/ First Air operates the only 2 civilian Hercules in Canada. Lynden Airlines from the US also has one. You could probably fly into Buttonville Airport and film there, much cheaper than Pearson. Military might be able to snag Downsview for you.
  17. What part of Fort Benning is this at?
  18. Hi Joe, welcome to the site! This is what I could dig up. SN, Registration, Model, Status 4084 64-14860 HC130P Flying 79RQS 4372 69-5824 HC130N Flying 39RQS 3910 63-7840 C130E Flying 19AW 3887 63-7821 C130E AMARC CF242
  19. 130314 in Trenton is the ONLY one in Canada on display, the rest are still in service with the Canadian Forces. You need to contact the 8 Wing Public Affairs office in Trenton and they might be willing to fly one down for you. I think Capt. Jennifer Jones is still reachable at (613) 965-2041, if not I can give you the number for Capt. Annie Morin, Public Affairs officer at CFB Trenton. If you need more help let me know, I am in the Canadian Forces.
  20. Can you believe that there was no KC-130 page on Wikipedia until today? (When I created it...) I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people out there, so if you are an experienced editor please add more info! If you are not comfortable with Wikipedia then perhaps you can post ideas and suggestions here. The other C-130 related articles could use some updating as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_KC-130
  21. Done. 324 is on limited duties and won't be around much longer. Maybe your source jumped the gun?
  22. 306 is time expired at Winnipeg, maybe going to a museum. 317 is time expired at Trenton, I have a pic. 319 and 324 are both flying, as of last week. More details for both if you need it. None of my sources have seen 320 since May...
  23. 130310 and 130325 are Time Expired and currently at Cascade Aerospace in Abbotsford, BC (YXX). Both are CC-130E Hercules, one is 45 years old and the other is 42. Out of 19 CC-130E, 10 have now been take out of service and only 9 are still remaining. Hopefully we will see 130603 soon to help fill in the void.
  24. Only one day left for the discounted registration fees!
