Looking for a place to get back copies of Lockheed Service News. I have a few from the past, but looking at the list, they go back to 1974. Any help would be nice. Happy Thanksgiving Gary

Can anyone confirm that all of the e-model stainless steel bleed air ducts have been replaced with Inconel ducts under TCTO 1397? I don\'t see the TCTO listed in the -1 anywhere so that tells me it\'s been completed on the fleet but I wanted to see what the masses had to say before I put it to rest in my mind.

Hello all, I couldn\'t work out why my last topic for discussion was getting no responses. I now know why! New webpage. Anyway, has anyone ever experienced an engine rollback from a partial or full loss of the ESS AC BUS \'a\' phase circuit breakers (qty - one, two or three) on the 245 bulkhead. There is a note in our flight manual that talks about if a full or partial loss of the ESS AC BUS circuit breakers will or could cause a four engine rollback in torque by 2000 inlbs through a low voltage to the synchrophaser resulting in the speed bias motor reducing speeder spring tension and decreasing blade angle. It also talks about a low voltage to the TD amp resulting …

Hi guys I got a problem I need your thoughts with. Recently one of our birds twice turned back after oil temperature exceeded +-90°C at altitude. History: The aircraft just completed ISO, and post-dock runs had oil temps getting up to 100°C at ground idle. OAT was in mid 40\'s. Two different oil coolers were fitted, and oil tank was drained and serviced with new oil. After this it was released. The next mission off base the in-flight problem occurred, and the engine was removed for test cell evaluation. In the Cell I started by draining all the oil from tank, RGB, ADH, oil cooler, and motoring the engine to empty all the oil hoses and tubes, and changed all …

After all these years, the subject of prop servicing is still discussed. I have experimented the last couple days with propeller oil levels, both static over-night cold level checks and cycled prop pressure sump and atmospheric dipstick checks. One aircraft leaned when I checked it and then I checked it again after I leveled it. What I found out was that the pump housing all act differently when the feather pump motor shuts off. Some drain back immediately and others don\'t drain back at all. A leaning aircraft throws the measurements off. I also found that if left for an additional 24 hours, the levels in both sumps increase. The amount draining back into the …

Does anyone know the history of the electric valve housings program? We are currently de-modding a bird back to traditional valve housings, and I am interested in the operational history of this program. I understand that there are about 5 birds with this system. I ran this one when it got here, and it ran great. 100% across the board, rock solid. I understand that parts support, troubleshooting/training were factors leading the EPCS\'s demise. The removed components are being \'green tagged\', but I have heard that they are bound for DRMO. Hard to believe...these babies can\'t be cheap.

Have a prop on a -16 that will not pitchlock. Prior to us getting the plane for ballistic foam install, the squadron had the same problem. They changed pitchlock reg., valve housing, then the gearbox sh*t the bed and the prop was seized on the shaft so they r2\'d the tq meter, gearbox, prop/dome. Sooo. They had a good pitchlock after all of that...once...so it could get here. We have tried all manner and techniques IAW pubs, and otherwise without success. It will overspeed without a problem, but does not even think about locking. Re-Indexed about 6 times (1x=2 then 3 master). Tried getting low/ref tq at about 97% then going to 1077 before locking and hitting g…

NVG Compatible Glass
by Guest- 10 replies

I know that some, perhaps all of the MC-130E\'s had new windshields installed for improved compatibility with Night Vision Goggles (NVGs). The original glass for the E models had transmissivity losses in the light spectrum of the NVGs. Does anybody know how many other platforms have been modified; and is NVG compatible glass available from Lockheed as part of the build for the J-models? John
