    Did my 20 years, started out on F-111F's as a crew chief, got out of the Air Force during the Korean axe incident in August 1976. A year later came back in and ended up on C-130's as a crew chief and retired out of AFSOC. Sounds so simple doesn't it. Oh I drank a lot of beer in those 20 years.

  2. I noticed an Air America type looking herk next to where I work. No tail number, just the N number N2731G above the troop door area. I don't ever remember seeing one like this before, from what I can tell Tepper flys this puppy. I wonder what the chances of me getting on board to look at it? Gary
  3. Zak passed away on Friday from what I understand. Viewing is Tuesday from 2-9pm at E.J. Mandziuk funeral home at 3801 18 Mile rd sterling heights, Mi. Burial is at Great Lakes National Cemetary in Holly, Mi at 1:30pm.
  4. This may not be much help, but I balance helicopter blades and water incursion is a problem. Could you have water or foreign material in it?
  5. Back in 1992 the Peruvian fighters shot down a U.S. C-130. I have noticed there really is not much talk about that.
  6. Too bad you can't pressurize the tank with a mixture of nitrogen and Helium, then get a helium detector and start sniffing. I use one at work, pretty cool system.
  7. If you have one bad and have all the panels off, why not change them all? Might save a lot of grief down the road.
  8. when I was stationed at Elmendorf we had a HC-130 (I think) that did this same thing. We changed all the flex drives...problem solved.
  9. I know the Talon 1's got them in the 7th and I assume the gunships also got them, where any other airframes TCTO'd?
  10. That F-111F motor was cool too bad it liked to throw turbine blades. I had a lot of fun running those motors, by the way you can bang first stage burner without tieing it down, just had to be really carefull. Don't forget to make sure the sp truck isn't behind you. T-56s where fun too.
  11. Casey I am sure you spent a lot hours getting this back up and running. Thanks a lot...by the way I was having withdrawal symptoms and was forced to open up my bottle of crown royal black.
  12. Dam, what did they do to that airplane? Sure didn't look like that at Elemendorf.
  13. As a former crew chief on Triple Nickel I am glad to hear she went to AMARG reluctantly. I sure would like to get a photo of her before she is stripped to a shell.
  14. I remember that plane well, I was at EDF from 82-85 as a crew chief. I never saw one C-130 that spent so much time in fuel cell, I think we tried to get depot to reseal it but it never happened. I do remember the Crew Chief always took good care of that airplane.
