  1. I lost, I never made it above 27,000. Somewhere in my files I have the flight orders for the B model at El Centro that drop a bunch of HALO troopers at 44.500. I'll try to dig it up. Bob
  2. Bill It is over at Lockheed. They used it for center wing box tests. I think it is still there. Bob
  3. I remember they interviewed Don Harrington, one of the pilots, a classmate of mine, who passed from Alzheimers recently and Loren K. Beck, one of the first FE's I flew with back in 1969-70. Bob
  4. Having watched AMARG from the outside and never having had to work with them, I can only say it is an amazing POS. No one wants to do anything and if they have to do something, it will cost lots more than is remotely reasonable. I think part of the attitude is if we don't cooperate and we charge ridiculous amounts people will just leave us alone. The other part of their attitude was shaped by the USFS scandal of a few years ago. Now unless it is FMS or part of NMUSAF it is going to the scrapper. No hassles from Congress, no hassles from Lockgreed or the other contractors, since used aircraft won't compete with their new and very expensive aircraft. Unless you have very heavy backing it will be a very long and expensive haul. I don't know anything about H's at Marana. As to H's at AMARG as of 15 January, they have no slicks except the Norwegians. They do have a few other models based on H's 4 AC-130H's destned for scrap, 2 USCG HC-130H's already mostly parted out, 7 HC-130P's and 14 MC-130P's, 2 KC-130R's, and an LC-130R. There are 5 or 6 ex LRF H's floating around, maybe what is at Marana? Talk to Fritz Wester, he has a lot of experience dealing with AMARG, Lockheed and the FAA. Good Luck Bob
  5. AMP Test FE Kulis, Anchorage Aviation Museum turned down 64-0541. Too costly and takes up too much space. Now owned by Elmendorf, still on the ramp at Anchorage, I think Bob
  6. There are no C-130H's in AMARG except the 5 Norwegian ones and I bet they are not offering those. Lots of C-130E's though. Bring lots of money because AMARG charges for everything and they charge a lot. If you can get someone who knows the ins and outs of AMARG, you will be better off. You might see if Fritz Wester and his crew from TBM want to take on the job of restoring one to flying shape. They also do engine and prop work, and have flight crew. Bob

No sorry not yet. 2008 is rumored to be 5766 and 2009 5772, but I have not been able to confirm that. Bob

2007 flew a few days ago. The last list I saw for the USFS was 1706,1708,1709,1713,1714, 1719,1721. Subject to change. Bob
  10. I knew I had a few pics of that from Steve wilson but I lost them. Here they are Bob

Hi Graywolf Thanks I checked them out and what I am looking for is a listing with where the aircraft are stationed by tail number to update the site Production List. Bob

Anyone know where I can get an updated USCG Herk listing. The last one I have is 01/13. Thanks Bob BTW have any of the USCG Herks gone to the Forest Service yet?
  15. Don I just looked at their website and the AF is down to only 16 bands, 11 Active and 5 ANG. Basically anywhere there is a 4 star there is a band. Probably 1000 folks tooting and drumming rather than fixing or flying. Bring back sequestration! Bob
  16. I did 2 2-month rotes there, in 70 and 72 and a couple of short ones plus a lot of overnights. I'll miss it. We used to hang in a pub long since gone the Volunteer Arms. Also the Bell in MLD and the Bull in Barton Mills. Great base, great people. Too bad the fighter pewks won again. They wanted to keep Spang open and could not justify it with only one squadron of F-16's. They didn't want to send the Spang F-16's to Aviano, so voila close Mldenhall. Can you imagine the mess when Spang and Ramstein are closed at the same time for fog. Oh well at least they saved the USAFE Band. Bob
  17. USAFE News. Is sad, seems stupid! Bob http://www.mildenhall.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123435803

    LRF H's

A few months ago there were only a few of the old H models on AD at LRF. Now I hear they are all gone? Anyone no the whereabouts of 73-1582, 74-1658, 1668, 2070, 2131, and 93-1041 and 92-0554(was at Reno) Thanks Bob
  19. No the Mansfield aircraft went to St Joe and the the St Joe aircraft went to Little Rock. Mansfield got a mix of aircraft from different units. If it went as usual, everyone's hangar queens. Bob
  20. Col It was owned by Earl Cherry in Alexandria LA. Bob Maddern aka Wombat has been working on it. I don't think it has flown in a long time. It has been for sale. It is the only 3 bladed Herk that can fly. Bob
  21. I can tell you which aircraft have what designation but not really why. These designations come out of the 130 Program Office at Robins. I have heard some of their explanations, and I really think they just pull them out of their ***. They would be the only ones who could give you an explanation. Bob
  22. A good page, surprised more units don't do something like that. Nashville had a good page too. Bob
