  4. Fritz was right, it was not Pinal. I got a reply from the photographer and he said it was from a yard near DM. I think I found it 56-0484 3092. What do you think? Bob

  7. https://picasaweb.google.com/michalkrsek/MaranaPinalPark#5926428707266571858 I just got a request to help identify a C-130 at Marana Airport Pinal in AZ. I knew of some ex USAF Herks and some civilian Herks being there years ago but nothing recent. The picture says Sept 2013. I don't have a clue, can anyone help. Bob I do wonder if it was an old pic, with an incorrect date?
  8. A lot of us know Lars Olausson, the foremost expert on the C-130. I just got a sad note from his daughter Nina about his condition. "Lars is not very well and doesn't manage to handle the computer any more. He suffers from some kind of dementia and physicly he is tired and frail. Gudrun is all right though, considering. She takes care of him very good but it is tiring of course. None of us children (Fredrik, Ulla and I) live very close but try to visit as often as possibly. Fredrik often spends part of the weekends at the parents house. I'm sorry to bring you these bad news." Bob
  9. Bob Got your message thanks. I tried to reply but your e mail said "over quota" and you don't receive e mail through the site. Anyhow thanks for the reply. Bob
  10. OGMA is a great overhaul facility, but!!! Looks like beer cans to me, but US taxpayers are probably paying. Gabon got 5 new herks, this one, two they sold to the UAE, and one to Tepper. I think they have one flier. TR-KCC an H. Bob
  11. Reminded me of being told back when Big MAC sucked us up from TAC and then bristled when we talked about Big MAC and Little MAC, yet after all these years there were squadrons of E models stationed at Travis, McGuire, and Charleston and with all the aircraft preserved at the big MAC bases none of them display a C-130. Of course the same can be said for ACC. There have always been 130's in TAC/ACC but at Fighter Central, Langley Field, where they have a lot of aircraft displays, even a B-52, and where there were three squadrons of herks stationed for up to 9 years, Not a Herk is to be seen. Bob
  12. 86ATS later 86 MAS was at Travis 1963-1967 Bob
  13. Tiny Thanks, with all the money they waste, they should be easily able to come up with 10M Bob
  14. I was trying to update my list of Herks in Museums or on display. Can anyone help with these questions? I looked on the net at the Hurlburt Museum and a site said that 84-0476 an MC-130H was in the Hurlburt Airpark. Last I heard it was still flying? 65-0994 MC-130P was supposed to go into the Hurlburt Airpark. Has it? 65-0988 HC-130P was supposed to go on display at Moody. Has it? 62-1801 C-130E was reported as going to Fort Campbell. Did it? Thanks for any help. Bob BTW if anyone has pics of these, could you post them?
  15. Liked the music. I think it was from the movie "Top Bunk" Did Coulson ever get a second Herk? Bob
  16. Most of the information below the chart is from a Professor Leeker who did a lot of writing for the UT Dallas Air America Collection. Bob
  17. Great unit history but I had two problems with it. First, 56-0523 " A/C received from Vietnamese Air Force at the end of the war (April 1971). Were told at one time 523 was painted all black. We noted this in the tail. To 133rd TAW April 1973." The Vietnamese AF did not receive any C-130A's until 1972 under project Enhance Plus. May have been ex-USAF from Naha? Second, 56-0543 "The Enterprise", 543 (c/n 182-3151) to South Vietnam AF. I have it in two places that it went from the Van Nuys CA ANG to SVAF then to DE? Anyone help? Bob
  18. 53-1972 was the last B-47 built at Marietta. They built them in Seattle, Tulsa and Marietta. Probably rolled out about 1955. Bob
  19. Only saw one C-130 on the cargo ramp at Tocumen. No 130's based in Panama that I know of. My wife is from Bocas Del Toro. Bob
  20. Bill Estes went out to Dobbins this week and saw the 4 Libyan Herks on the closed runway. He did not see the other four but is going to check. They may be there forever. Bob
