  1. Man, It has been a long time since I have been on here...this aircraft is passionate for me as I used to be a crew chief on 74-2065, also a credible sport aircraft that was sent back to Dyess and now at Yokota. I was in the CLSS (ABDR) at Robins and it is unfortunate that the museum released this aircraft because nobody wanted to pay for it. I contacted the Robins curator personally and was told that although Credible Sport was a test program, the mission never happened so their stance was, it is NOT a part of AF history. BS!. Unfortunately, it is sitting out at Warrior Air Base at Robins with no wings, no Horizontal or Vertical Stab either. I was pretty pissed after talking with the curator. Hopefully something can be done, but it is all about money any more. Gary
  2. Bob, I left Yokota in 2012 and am now stationed at Moody AFB. It has been some time since I got on here, good to be back! Gary
  3. Bob, You are correct on the remaining P's at Moody. The two wingless birds in the picture are 63-9810 which is supposed to go to the rescue group as a ground trainer and 65-0988 which we hope to start getting to our air park in the coming weeks! Gary
  4. I thought 0502 went to Elemendorf for Static when it left Ramstein?
  5. Thanks Talon...that is exactly what I was looking for!
  6. I got picked up the the USG as an AFETS Rep and no longer work for BAE/MTC. I believe they are bidding to do another PDM on another PI aircraft, but not sure where that stands. Glad to see she is flying again! Spent the better part of 2 years in and out of the PI, every three weeks would fly out for three weeks and home to WR. Lots of Delta Sky miles...lots of San Miguel Super Dry! Glad I dont have to make that flight anymore, even though it payed for my honeymoon to Jamaica!
  7. Does anyone have a good quality cutaway picture of a C-130E/H? Can's seem to find one. Thanks,
  8. Bob, When we delivered 4726, it was to bring the total to 3. 4593 came to the facility and CANNED and engine and prop for the aircraft broke in Davao. After dropping the APU and engine, it departed and crashed, leaving 2 operational after we delivered. Last I heard the other was going to be grounded due to PDM overfly hours.
  9. The upper tracks get a coat of grease...the lower tracks calls for applying grease or SFL (solid film lubricant) "Sparingly"
  10. I crewed 1299 at Yokota in the late 90's. Sad to see her go, but she still flies on!
  11. Try Kellstrom Industries out of Mirimar Florida. The company I used to work with...we bought many parts from these guys to rebuild a 76H model. Very dependable and very knowledgeable. Try talking to a fella named Marius or Henry...tell them Gary sent you! Kellstrom Industries 3701 Flamingo Road Miramar, FL 33027 PHONE: (954) 538-2000 FAX: (954) 538-6626 http://www.kellstrom.com/index.aspx
  12. Ah...you remember then, huh Tiny? Numerous missed missions and wasted NM time for a "Non-Issue".
  13. I remember being in AR shop and 935 giving us fits rigging the NLG doors for the aft bumper stop. I agree with you SergF, it is sad to see the old birds being put down. On another note...I remember 502 being driven into a swamp in Sig during initial stages of OIF. I have/had a PPS of pics of us digging that thing out. It was flying OIF missions the next day. I will have to see if I can find them and post them after I PCS.
  14. I was a member of the team that repaired the remaining planes and disposed of 211. The DANG was very hospitable in our stay there. The left wing was installed on 207 and the empenage was intalled on 208. There was also a section from about FS 230-330 that was removed and spliced into 212. The sheet metal guys did some awesome work. All salvagable parts were removed and put back in the supply system. I remember Ralph at 211, watching as his baby was being carved up. He wanted a piece but could not bring himself to taking it. He would mark something, the 3 guys would cut it out...he wouldnt take it. I have CD's of the pictures of all the damage on all the planes and to this day it is unbelievable that we were able to put those planes back in the air. I have since retired and now the CLSS is closed. I was proud to be a part of that unit...they had amazing mechanics
  15. It was very unfortunate the fate that 4593 and their crew faced. On the up side, 4726 is about ready for delivery back to the PAF. This aircraft sat for a cummulative total of 7 years with only one flight....we hope to FCF this week!
  16. I transferred 1597 in 1997 to Dyess...they came and picked up 1582 and 1598 in 98. Never understood why Yokota had E\'s, Bastard E/H\'s and H\'s. Got into it one time with an engineer who said the divider valve was inop and they needed to go to the spare...an E model with no divider valve....never did make sense...whether it was in the emergency procedures or not...common sense just never seemed to prevail.
  17. That is pretty slick. I remember landing on some fields in South America with dirt taxiways...had to turn on the runway and offload on the end of the runway. Airplanes landing over the top of the vertical stab...and a Pope bird doing a landing coming right at us....
  18. Aircraft is still assigned to the \"Bayou Militia\". Aircraft went to Pemco Aerospace for extensive corrosion problems last year and was delivered back to them about Sept/Oct 07.
  19. Thanks all, Sonny, I checked the base arts and crafts...nothing there. I will check the other two places. Fraulein...thanks to you as well. I travel to the PI once a month but this was a quick need...could not wait for me to go there. Gary
  20. Anyone know where I can get a nice C-130 Mural as a going away gift for one of my contracting folks? I checked the base with no luck. Before I get on the computer and start googling...figure this is the best place to check. I did not see anything in the store on the site here.
  21. loadsmith wrote: While I agree with you that these photos should not have been released, I got that same slideshow about 2 weeks after it happened. Katum was not the first to obtain and release these pics. Personally, I dont think anything was compromised in the pictures but I am not a memeber of the SIB.
  22. If you are speaking of 7837---yep this is Gary! I think you have my name and my ex mixed up there, is that you Chris! I flew along with one of the AR folks to Atsugi to extract the plane after the Rt NLG tire came off. I dont believe it was an ISO screw up though...from what I remember the plane just returned from KL Malaysia after PDM. I remember the tire still had the hub cover on it on the runway when we got there...the retaining screw sheared and the nut backed off. Dont know what the \"Official\" report said...that was what I noticed while removing the plane from the runway. Gary
