  1. Read up on the J-model, they (Dyess) is in the middle of conversion from H1 (74 year models) to J's (brand spanking factory fresh). You will like being a crew chief especially if you to get dirty.
  2. But he is only going to be checking the wings!!!
  3. 1-1-691 CLEANING AND CORROSION PREVENTION AND CONTROL, AEROSPACE AND NON-AEROSPACE EQUIPMENT, I think is the replacement for the 1-1-2
  4. Tiny has always been a very meticulous worker. Here is a picture of him OPs checking some new equipment. Notice how he uses all his expertise. Congrats Tiny!!
  5. That is why I said resistant and not proof. I have seen the other results very nasty. They resist to the point of penetration:eek:, which is pretty much immediate.
  6. We have towed aircraft around without any leading edges, swapped them from one aircraft to another. All things they said could and should not be done, but guess what they went on in their typical fashion. Some tougher than others, but they went on. WR has never had an issue with this before so why would they now. Don the -3 and the job guide has limits on what floor boards can be removed prior to moving the aircraft. This goes along with way back when you could not remove windshield while the aircraft was on on jacks, my how times have changed. Remember engine truss mounts are not aircraft primary structure either, they are NACELLE primary structure; thereby, the aircraft wings do not need to be no-loaded to change them. Also have done may of them without ANY problems!! Come on out that box sometimes guys. Another words refuel away!!!!
  7. #2 they have new center wings which doesn't necessarily mean AMP will happen (maybe it will happen before Tiny retires:) )!!! #3 No J's for Yoland for now #5 62nd will train with the guard on H1, H2, and J's last I heard Not all based on facts a little Air Force rumors are added and those are VERY reliable:cool:
  8. That glass ain't bullet proof it's only chicken resistant:o
  9. If they did it would probably have been the heavy stuff they put in the Gunships (ceramic plates no vlecro!!)
  10. Wonder why they put the Pigs name on the ramp??:)
  11. Explain to me how a low strut (leaning aircraft, they lean all the time) will cause a aircraft pull?? I think it is the same fix as swapping the propeller from one side to other fixed the problem. Most of the time it's someone in the seat that says hey this aircraft pulls and everyone else feels the same thing UNTIL maintenance does something to make it feel better:).
  12. Don't forget you can use the SCNS/INS battery if the TCTO has been accomplished and it would be similar the the J model get home switch. The enignes will stay running as long as the can keep fuel coming in!!
  13. Here is a little off the cuff solution we were given to try. I can't say if it really was the problem the but it did go away. We had an aircraft pull left, we tried all the solutions listed in this page and then some also changed the NWS control valve (swapped to another aircraft it worked fine in that one). However, before we could ops check the control valve we accomplished (sort of) the other solution. We we were told to swap the #1 an #4 props. We started doing that, however; they both we leaking so we put two new props on and the problem is gone and has not returned. Your guess is as good as mine! And yes all engine power and torque checks were accomplishd prior to moving the props!
  14. So are you saying they will not let you order it?? If not tell them to look in ES-S and ask them why you can't requistion it!! If you do order a couple of them. Why are you guys still using them. Also the bone yard (AMARG) probably has lots of them to!!
  15. Look in drawings 380826 and 380725 also. Of course all starting with 379750...
  16. Is this it? I am not a pointy head but this is out of TCTO 1375 PN AS-4124/ARN-152(V) SN 5985013686459 Lots in AF supply Or PN 100-601273-000 SN 5985013314923 Again plenty in supply
  17. Just think Muff how many planes you had and personnel to match. All of Yoland's aircraft are not all there and neither are the personnel (supporting other places) With that, the C-130 aircraft you were using were not 35+ years old. I am by no means belittling your accomplishments, but like I said it is a different world!
  18. Then you are saying the J model is very susceptible to avionics shut down when lightning strikes. The electronic valve housings remove the requirement for synchrophasers which means the props may go out of synch at worst just like now, if lighting would strike and take them out. Likely NO.
  19. For originally supposed to being done with 1/3 of the fleet by now, not bad!!!
  20. I agree if the nose has been checked, check the MLG wheel and tire assemblies and ensure the MLG axle nuts are torqued correctly especially the forward ones and do ensure the nose tires and bearings are changed, like it has been said always go for the easy fix first.
  21. Here is what the job guide says about the nose tire tread!! NLG tires on the same axle require matching for size. The outside diameter of fully inflated tires shall be the same diameter within limits specified in Figure 2-1 of TO 4T-1-3. Nose tires should be of the same tread design when available. ‘‘Should’’ and ‘‘may’’ are used to indicate nonmandatory provisions!! The diameter is the most important when dealing with a shimmy, usually it is something loose or worn causing the shimmy other than the tires! But of course tires and whel bearings are the easiest fix and more often than not the problem will reoccur.
  22. You can also level and aircraft with plastic tubing and water, if thats what you have:o
  23. When they put center wings on it only 'zeros' EBH time, not airframe. The Talon 1's had new center wings installed starting in 95 if they replaced them again after that I do not know. Most any any C-130 aircraft has currently in the inventory is 37300.3 hours and that is62-1820 currently in PR
  24. The part number in FED-LOG is A47024-2 Stock Number 5210002383299. I have attached the Mil-Spec of the 8 ounce plumb pump bob. MS15747 plumb bob.pdf
