I was thinking it would be nice to see if after all of these years there are still some guys out there that are still looking for some word about their old friends. Especially in the late 60's to the early 70's. You know, the guys from Naha, CCK. Ubon, Tachikawa, Clark, Max Tan etc. All were Viet Nam Veterans probably! Maybe we could post a pic or two ---if we still remember how!!! I will try 1st: I know all of these people Ken ,

Sent in via e-mail by Herktoublefixer--Casey The below was sent to me from a friend presently on assignment in the Sand-Box. Sir: I am D. J. Baker and I would appreciate it if you could tell me what it takes to be an F-16 fighter pilot in the USAF. What classes should I take in high school to help the career I want to take later in life? What could I do to get into the Air Force Academy? Sincerely, DJ Baker ********************************************* From: Van Wickler, Kenneth, Lt Col , HQ AETC Anybody in our outfit want to help this poor kid from Cyberspace? The United States military made history yesterday when it landed a C-130 aircraft on Highway 287 north of Rawlins during a joint training exercise. Moments after sunrise, the cargo plane burst through storm clouds to the east of the roadway at about 240 miles per hour. 500 feet off each wingtip was an A10. Known also as “flying guns,” A10’s are the Air Force’s primary low-altitude close support aircraft. Until yesterday, the Air Force had never landed a C130 on an American highway, although two A10’s landed on a Michigan highway earlier this month. Prior to that, such a feat had only been done in Estonia during the Cold War. With a wingspan of more than 132 feet,…

Hi all, I'm not a C-130 bubba, but I did fly on P-3's back in the day. I'm on the civilian side and looking a for a bit of knowledge from Herc pilots/maintainers. I've been reading through some maintenance documents particular to the exterior lighting system. The TO references aircraft modified by TO 1C-130-1167, which is a retrofit adding strobes to the anti-collision lights. I'm curious if this was a widespread retrofit and non-strobe ACLs are the exception, or it was only applied in a limited fashion. Any info would help...cheers and happy holidays!

AC-130J #1 that went inverted while in OTE at Eglin (damaged beyond repair)…now ground trainer at Kirtland. Congrats to our teammates in the Simulators Division on the recent successful delivery of an Enhanced Fuselage Training Device to the 58th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland Air Force Base! Working in partnership with various stakeholders, to include Lockheed Martin and Air Force Special Operations Command, the division led an effort to convert an operational MC-130J aircraft – which had sustained damage – to a training device that will provide realistic simulation capabilities for approximately 200 MC-130J and HC-130J loadmasters and specia…

One day a man decided to retire. He booked himself on a Caribbean cruise and proceeded to have the time of his life, that is, until the ship sank. He soon found himself on an island with no other people, no supplies, nothing, only bananas and coconuts. After about four months, he is lying on the beach one day when the most gorgeous woman he has ever seen rows up to the shore. In disbelief, he asks, "Where did you come from? How did you get here?" She replies, "I rowed over from the other side of the island where I landed when my cruise ship sank." "Amazing," he notes. "You were really lucky to have a rowboat wash up with you." "Oh, this thing?" explains the woman. " I mad…
