I feel every current and ex-military member's opinion concerning the current move to abolish Don't Ask, Don't Tell should be heard. From what I have seen in the MSM lately, ninety percent of the current military say its fine by them to revoke DADT. However, a retired Navy Chaplin took a closer look at the survey and came up with a different take on the survey. I have posted it on my blog, should you care to view. http://flyoverfeedback.blogspot.com By the way, jut to be clear, I believe DADT should remain in place. JP

hello all, with the absolute wealth of knowledge of all the members of this great website, I have an idea and would like to get some feedback on this: instead of retiring all the F-15's and F-16's, why not have the Boeing and the Lockheed Martian companies restart the 15 and 16 assembly lines to produce 'new build' acft to replace the 'high time' acft. The new fighters can receive all mods to have them all up to date. Instead of having the USAF having only the F-22,just have a few sqaudrons to serve along side the 'new' acft.It would create a lot of jobs in the civilian sector and keep all those flight and maint crews in the service.

It so good that all the siera clubbers and tree huggers were sucessful in returning large numbers of wolves to the wild. They are decimating the game population faster than jimmy joe billy bob with a spotlight and a shotgun. Be afraid, be very afraid:eek:

Recently I have been have having memory flashes of some of my most memorable events while working on the C-130. One of the most re-occurring memories is my time spent at Ubon /Blind Bat as a crew member in 1968. I have always wondered what has happened to all of my former crew members as I have never seen any of their names show up here. Ted Curtis was the AC on my crew and was quite interesting and fun at times. Otherwise, he was very serious about his job. One of the things he did during missions is record his contact with the ABCC bird and his talk with some of the fighter/bomber aircraft that were called in to destroy what we had spotted. Also with us "Peons" in…

This may be old but it made me laugh! With that said, I thought I would share it all of you. Enjoy! Husband banned from Target After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from our local Target. Dear Mrs. Samsel, Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store.. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against you…

"A Different Christmas Poem" The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight. The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve. My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep. In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream. The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near, But I opened my eyes when …

I didn't want to hijack the "Veterans" thread with this, but MTcrewchief sent me an essay written by author James Web, titled "Heroes of the Vietnam Generation". Fascinating read!!!!!! My comment to MTcrewchief was that I certainly never considered myself a "warrior". I remember the times we loading up a platoon (or what ever the Army terminology was) of troops after a couple weeks in the bush and thinking that I was lucky I wasn't one of them. Then feeling bad about those thoughts. There is an irony to this: several months ago I was talking to a Marine Vietnam Vet while at the VA Hospital and he said to me that he thought we (C-130 guys), were the brave ones!!!

This has long been in the photo album. It brings back many memories for myself. Forgot to share it last year. This year I remembered. It was originally published in the Philippine Flyer, which was the base paper for Clark. I want to say the date it was published is either in 1975 or 1976. T'was the Night Before Christmas Adapted by Barri E. Burrows T’was the night before Christmas In my Philippine hut. Not a creature was stirring, Not even the mutt. The medyas were hung from the mesa with care In hope that St. Nicholas would soon be there. The children perspired on their open air beds, While dreams of air conditioning danced in their heads. And Ma i…

LESSONS IN LEADERSHIP: From a Janitor Wharton Leadership Digest, December 2001 By Colonel James E. Moschgat, Commander of the 12th Operations Group, 12th Flying Training Wing, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas William “Bill†Crawford certainly was an unimpressive figure, one you could easily overlook during a hectic day at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Mr. Crawford, as most of us referred to him back in the late 1970s, was our squadron janitor. While we cadets busied ourselves preparing for academic exams, athletic events, Saturday morning parades and room inspections, or never-ending leadership classes, Bill quietly moved about the squadron mopping and buffing flo…
