gjinc
Looking for a book I saw in the 80\'s Had a photo of 62-1825 with shark teeth painted on the nose Would like the title of the book or isbn number thanks
APG85
Don\'t know the book, but here\'s the picture. Photo credit is RJ Wilmoth. The Shark Teeth were removed within days by orders of the \"higher ups\". Picture is from his ABCCC collection...
gjinc
That is a good picture, different than the one in the book
Guest cobra935o
Looks like that pic was taken in Udon. Nathan
Dan Wilson
1825 looks much better WITHOUT the teeffus, nothing sillier than shark teeffus on a herk as proven by the 2nd AS with their silly teeth (or whichever Pope squadron that was). Guest cobra935o
Now Moody gets em! Or atleast the slick they have had em (1836? or whatever tail, it is another of the ex ABCCC birds)! Something about the new wing that came in there I guess. Nathan
lownslow
The shark teeth belong to ACC\'s 23rd Group (Flying Tigers). When the Hercs belonged to ACC for a litte while the Pope planes belonged to the 23rd therefore had the teeth. When they went back to AMC the teeth came off and the goofy Gryphon went on. The A-10s kept the teeth. The 23rd and the A-10s moved to Moody and now that the rescue birds there belong to ACC they got the teeth too. The 23rd\'s history goes back to WWII flying P-40s in China with Claire Chennault leading them.
Dan Wilson
Yeah history\'s just fine, but \"historically\" they belong on Fighters not transport and even worse a RESCUE plane with the stupid teeth? Thats just asinine. Dan
US Herk
I remember when they showed up in Mombaassa for the Somali airlift & the deployed/CC had them taken off. Big urinary olympics over that as I recall...
bobdaley
Rescue at DM is part of the Moody wing and they are doing the sharks teeth thing too. I had heard it was not the rescue planes just the slicks though??? Bob

Big urinary olympics over that as I recall... Same pissing match when they showed up at Rhine Main to do airland into Sarajevo, they shot at us enough as it was, why give them a target to shoot at! The teeth came off! Dan
US Herk
Yeah - they almost glow on NVGs too! (at least the ones in the \'90s did)
lownslow
I agree that the teeth were/are silly. At least those particular aircraft have a little personality though. In this ridiculous PC Air Force it\'s surprising that someone hasn\'t claimed to be offended and had them removed. If I were a shark I\'d be pissed. Guest cobra935o
Speaking of the Shark Teeth, I dont know if anyone gets this magazine or not, \"Americas Flyways\", but on the cover they have a picture of 62-1832 with shark teeth on it. It is the Jan 08 issue, and I couldnt find it on their website, but it is really a good picture. I had never heard of this magazine before but it was laying around the sqd today and I saw it and grabbed it. Nathan
tinyclark
Only the slick E models at Moody have what I consider the gay smile. 62-1863 is our frankentanker ex-ABtripC airplane, and it does not, I repeat, does not have the teeth.
