  1. I thought 533 was at Naha in 65 and was at CRB and was on T/O and hit a Mortor Hole in the PSP runway and tore the nose gear out. I remember going down and getting some parts from a plane next to the runway and takeing them back to Naha. Someone posted Pix of a plane but it wasn't 533. A mind is a terrable thing to lose, I don't remember sex.
  2. A tank popped out 2 rows of rivits at Naha due to the vents inside the tank being plugged. This was in 66.
  3. The keeping up with your time was in 64 & 65 at Sewart. "D" section. I don't remember any other times it may have been.
  4. When we went to Clark we used the "Fig Leaf" area for our A models. We had no problem backing out of them loaded. When we backed one with the tug we had to pull it foreward about 5' or so for the MLG shoe pads to be in the rail. We had lots of problems with those pads.
  5. While at Sewart we had to account for every minute of the day shift in the forms, then turn them in to the bread truck or the line chief. I had to account for my time reading the TO,s and cleaning the plane. I was there Sept 63 till June 65. I don't remember all the forms we had but that I guess is part of growing old. I don't even remember many of the peoples names. To be honest about it, I call my wife honey most of the time cause I don't remember her name most of the time, and I also think that is why she calls me honey.
  6. Probobly the same as the Johnson bar. Had a metal lip that would slide under a box or pallet small wheels and a long handle, maybe about 5" long. Put the lip under the load and push down on the handle and the load would raise enough to move it.
  7. On the slick floors we made use of the "J bars". On one flight I was sleep deprived and we had a stack of the big pallets so I strapped myself to them and went to sleep. We had som Pax on that flight and they gave me a strange look when I did it. All I had to do was close my eyes and I was out like a light.
  8. I remember as an asst.CC going in country and helping whoever needed the help. If there were mechanical problems I would help the FE and so would the LM. If no mechanical problems the FE and I would help the LM. I also remember Pilots and Copilots on a B1 stand helping remove starters and Gens. and installing plates. Most of that was when we went to Clark from Sewart, and when I first got to Naha.
  9. I feel sure the people who,s homes were endangered didn't stop to ask if the water drops were from privats companies or GVT aircrafe. It seems as though these last fires were too big for the private sector to handle and help had to come from where ever.
  10. This ain't the one I ment to post dammit.
  11. I got this from another site, so I hope it is safe. I got out before the program was started. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=wbV3lf1HzQI&vq=medium#t=18
  12. Sgt Orlando was over the swing shift tow crew one week and we had a Typhoon warning. After getting all the planes in hangers and all that could fly were gone, we were left with one plane that had just got back from IRAN. It hadn't been cleared to fly and no hanger space was avalable for it. We were told a flt. crew would run the engines on the ground and keep the plane headed into the wend when the storm hit. We started refueling the plane and when we were almost done 2 rows of rivits between #3 & 4 engines popped out with what sounded like thunder and fuel started spewing out the rivit holes. We were right in front of the tower or base ops and close to the fire dept. The fire dept was on us almost as soon as it happened and started putting water and foam on the fuel and the fuel was going into the drainage system and people said the fuel smell was all the way past the Navy flt line. We did defuel the plane and the storm never hit. We were each ask what had happened and were cleared of anything we did rong. When the fuel pannel was removed duct tape was found inside the tank covering the vent line. Off topic put it where it needs to go.
  13. Reminds me of when I was visiting Dyess for a doppler mod with 56 468. A shop worker didn't see my line badge and called a 7 hi on me. When the AP,s got there I handed them my badge but they took me in anyway. When ask where I worked I told the Ac. 6468. After about an hour they told me they couldn't get an answer at 6468. When we went to leave, starting #,s 1 & 2 the Ap,s pulled up and ask the LM for his clearance. The pilot told him to tell the AP,s it was in the plane and he would have to get it. When he came inside we closed the door and started taxeing. The pilot told the tower what was happening and we taxied to the runway and took off.
  14. Sonny, Msgt Tanner went to the 21st TCS on 18 Aug 66. Same time as I did. At that time he wasn't the line chief. I think Sgt Powell was line chief in D section, 51st OMS. We both got to Naha about june 65. I only stayed 17 months and I think he was there with his family and stayed 36 months. I got out in Nov 66. I mostly worked for Tsgt Shifflett. A1c John Boyle tought me how to run engines at Sewart, and was at Naha also.
  15. I remember a party but we were near a creek and had a tug of war. I was one of the smaller ones and got pulled in the creek. I left in Nov. 66. It seems there was a Sgt Tanner as an ancor for the rope. I was in one of the Barricks like the one in the picture.
  16. That wouldn't surprise me one bit Dan. When I go to the Clinic in Greenville some of the people at the desk tell me I'm not eligable for travel pay, but I insist on filing for it and get paid and others just give me the form to sign. It takes a couple of months to get the pay by mail.
  17. I had a few copies of travel vouchers and after over 40 years they weren't readable. I kept them in that little blue pouch we got in Basic. I did find one set of orders that put me at Ni Trang, thats all it took.
  18. I used special bonding brushes where I attatched ground wires to the flaps while I was at lockheed. That was in 69.
  19. That is true Roy. I and about 20 others have just not had that deductable. Even anything is better than nothing.
  20. This was the first time I have been charged or deducted that amount and the others also in the line with me.
  21. I had an appointment at the AV Hospital yesterday May 4th. As always I went to have my travel pay papers approved then took them to turn in and get my pay. While in line with about 20 others I noticed where the travel pay was the same, but ther was a $6.00 deduction from the total. I mentioned it kinda loud and the 20 other vets in the line all said there was the same deduction on their vouchers. When I got to the pay window I ask the paymaster and she said that congress had voted on it and that was all she knew. I didn't voice my thoughts to her cause I know she is only doing her job. Anyone else know anything about this??? PS. My spell Check is lost and I don't know where to find it now.
