  1. Giz, I think they make special filters for you ailment. Try Autozone. The filter fits neatly between the brain and mouth. What usually comes out is crap but socially acceptable crap. Might get you off the couch. I have learned over the years that the filter needs to be changed every few days (sometimes every few hours) cause the brain overloads the crap filter.
  2. I'll take the crew bunk for $250
  3. Thanks Giz. I laughed a lot. I was going to show this to my wife but thought better of it.
  4. Thanks for the tips Dan. I've been tracking my claim on the e-benefits web site. But you are right; its time to get on the phone and talk to a live person.Guess ill do that today Keith
  5. Happy anniversary Giz....and the rest of you old guys. I still have the same gal i married 37 years ago. We spent some time a Buckroe Beach. Never went shooting at the dump though. Speaking of sharing a beer with your NCO...How about the times the squadron brought beer trucks into a hanger to celebrate a good ORI? No soda for us TAC Trained Killers. Couldnt imagine doing ANYTHING like that today!
  6. And before I found this website, I thought I wasprobably the only person out there who would get chill bumps, a lump in my throat and the reaction to stop and stare everytime I spotted one of those Herks. I really feel like I've found a bunch of long lost friends here. Thanks for the memories guys !! Keith

  8. jack.......Sometimes, whatever works:)
  9. having started the process in june 2010, my vietnam related claim has been in the "decision" phase for over 6 months. For me the operative word is patience. Like Giz has said...Make sure you outlive the bureaucrats at the VA
  10. I probably shouldnt say anything. But of course I've already started. Every once in awhile the fire warning control system would stop flashing the T handle in the cockpit. Behind each engine positioned in the wing was a fire warning control box. This little black box had a relay inside that would sometimes stick. A little tap on the box with a wrench would fix the problem more often than not.
  11. Chris, I know what you mean. Thinking back on it I think we left pieces of our youth in various places in the world. But all of those places and experiences are tied to one aircraft; the C130E. To this day, when my grandchildren see a 130 in the air they say "There goes grandpas airplane"
  12. I could kick myself for not taking pictures during my service time. I've got a few but some old 8mm movie film of C130's on the flightline during operation Nickle Grass in 1973 was left to rot in my mothers garage. Anyone have any pics of Tan Son Nhut in the early 1970's?
  13. I wouldn't mind kickin in a few bucks for an old war bird. I wouldn't even mind getting my hands dirty and greasy. Sometimes 40 years seems like yesterday
  14. It looks like you folks had a great time at WPAFB. I'm looking forward to the reunion at Langley next year. Keith
  15. Yep, Thats just about right....I'm Still laughing
  16. I'll take a stab in the dark....Are you popping any circuit breakers? Could it be an electrical malfunction?
  17. Lyin about being a war hero is fair game for the 9th circuit? How about pretending to be a judge, a sugeon, a pilot or a police officer? What a bunch of idiots! Too many people have portrayed themselves as military heros, buy medals and uniforms or just lied about themselves. Dan Rather CBS news was one. There is no checking by reporters when they take a Vets story at face value. I had a reporter describe to me a vietnam vets story about drinking, shaking and hiding under the bed. The reporter "knew" his Vietnam story was true because his wife was fauning over him trying to calm him down. The story didn't ring true to me because she described combat action where he "dropped a grenade" down a hole in a vill and found out later that he had killed a family and "little kids". The guy was a cook or something but the reporter took his word for everything and reported it that way. No checking. Just reinforces the "Crazy Broken Viet Nam Vet" steriotype. Disgusting!
  18. There is a bond that forms between people that is strengthened through shared experience. Most accept the bond and keep the faith with their fellow brothers and sisters. Some however, do not. Sounds like Gov Perry keeps the faith. However, I cannot forget or forgive those who would denigrate the service and sacrifice of our service members. People like John Kerry and Hollywood types like Jane Fonda. I'm proud to have served with a great group of people who keep the faith and honor the sacrifice of those who went before and those who are serving now. I'm proud to be associated with the fine people on this site. Keith
  19. For years I carried a very small bering on my keyring. I had removed it from a C130 anticollision light. Everyone I showed off my "Military Bearing" to wanted one! Sent one newbe for some Ohms at the hydrolic shop. Kid shoulda known better...
  20. Having been all over the world in the back end of a C130, I can tell you THE BEST place for sleep was on top of the cargo pallet, You are close enough to the hot air ducts to keep you toasty warm while those unlucky enough to be in the troop seats freeze their feet off.
  21. 123'3 for sure. I never saw any spray equipment on any of the 130's I worked on. Doesn't mean it didn't happen. I submitted my claim for AO and other related medical conditions in June 2010. My claim is in the Decision Phase now. But I'm not sure how long it has been there or how long it will take to make a decision.
  22. Bob & Giz, Tail #7783 sounds VERY familiar. And the time frame is right. I turned 21 at TSN June 26, 1972. I've got a request in to the National Personnel Records Center requesting copies of Travel vouchers. Thanks for your information. I wish now I had kept copies of my orderes, vouchers, etc. Like you, I was sent back to the states on a civilian airline out of Tiapai Tiwan.
  23. Does anyone remember a TDY from Langley to the PI in either 1971 or 1972. I was abord one of our 130E's and I think there were six sent. The route was from Langley with stops in Calif.(Travis?), Hawaii, Wake Island, Guam, (B-52 were on the flightline) and Philippines. Once there, a shop chief asked for volunteer's for the electric shop at TSN. Myself and another guy from Langley (dont remember his name) went to TSN. He worked the day shift 12's and I worked the night 12's. I never took pictures and the only proof of boots on the ground (For Va) is a tattered card authorizing my use of an M-16. My dd214 has 40 days SEA and VSM but.....Any help would be appreciated.
  24. Whoooo. My first and only "bust" was at the 7-11 when a couple of maintainers and I stopped for a 16 oz can of PBR on the way to work. My buddy in the passanger seat had just popped the top when Hampton's finest pulled up behind me with lights and sirens. They put me in in the back of the squad car and the lead cop reamed me verbally while his buddy stifled a laugh. They finally let me go with a warning but I was never able to get the smell of beer out of the carpet where my friend had tried stash the open can. I can remember downing a few bottles of Boones Farm on rare occasions.
