  1. Sorry guys, witworth was what I was thinking about. Guess Imperial is correct:side: Dan
  2. Front of ramp is FS 737 for your run of the mill generic herkybird. Dan http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v721/FTFFTW/Herk/?action=view&current=herkmeasurements.jpg
  3. The satellite catchers were an active duty unit stationed at Hickam. They finally shut down in the mid 80\'s (I think), the 53rd Weather at Keesler got a couple of their birds while I was there with the 7th ACCS Dan
  4. My thought go out to his family, we all have to go but going with cancer makes it just horrible for the deceased as well as the family. Just thinking, how many Generations of FE\'s sweated out sitting in his class, his short temper was famous but he did know his stuff. Dan
  5. Don\'t you mean SAE? I thought imperial was that weird one off system the Brits had once upon a time. Haven\'t seen that system since I dumped my 62 MG. Dan

  7. Yep, I used to have a buddy at Tinker that crosstrained to become an ART (airborne radar tech) and he was on that flight. Too bad and he was a pretty cool dude too. Had one birdstrike when we landed at Nellis, when we were taxiing in I put my head up out the hatch and #2 engine nacelle looked like it had been in Elton Johns wardrobe. The whole nacelle and prop was covered with big white feathers! Must have been something that was living and flying around Lake Powell, strange thing was no damage. At Kirtland we always had problems with birds - always! Had one week where the commander (Ltc Ellis) flew three times and all three times had damaging bird strikes, and by damaging I mean entering the airframe. I flew with him on the third flight and just had to laugh on my post flight, I seen some holes in the vertical stab but when I got the the space between #1 and #2 you seen a hole and all that was sticking out were a couple of chicken feet LOL. Strange one is when your looking at the IDS (or FLIR as its usually incorrectly called) and take a birdstike on the sensor itself:woohoo: Dan

    FOTW

Those are actually access points for the new DATRS system (Dead Alien Transport and Recovery). Up till now the \"refueling\" pods were the desired transport device but the DoD found that supply was exceeding the available supply of MC-P\'s so they put a second system in most of the Herks and in an emergency you can transport one small size gray in each \"flare dispenser\". But don\'t tell anybody cause its Top Secret. Dan
  9. A drunken man walks into a biker bar, sits down at the bar and orders a drink. Looking around, he sees three men sitting at a corner table. He gets up, staggers to the table, leans over, looks the biggest, meanest, biker in the face and says: \"I went by your grandma\'s house today and I saw her in the hallway buck naked! Man, she is one fine looking woman!\" The biker looks at him and doesn\'t say a word. His buddies are confused, because he is one bad biker and would fight at the drop of a hat. The drunk leans on the table again and says: \"I got it on with your grandma and she is good, the best I ever had!\" The biker\'s buddies are starting to get really mad but the biker still says nothing . The drunk leans on the table one more time and says, \"I\'ll tell you something else, boy, your grandma liked it!\" At this point the biker stands up, takes the drunk by the shoulders looks him square in the eyes and says................. \"Grandpa,....... Go home, you\'re drunk
  10. Yep, pretty sure you need a start button in to complete the circuit to the thermal relay on the under freq relay. Otherwise the ATM will drop off just like any other generator, once it drops below 368cps. Dan
  11. Dunno, I always preferred to use the externals over the aux tanks. But then again my last 11 years were with the MC-P\'s and or HC\'s so we normally had fuel in all the tanks. RZ, I would almost guarantee they start to have outer wing cracks in a couple of years. What they should have done to prevent that was to put in the purchase contract that any repairs due to Lockheed\'s known engineering failures CANNOT be repaired at government expense and Lockheed must foot the bill. Bet you would have seen new outer wing and center wing designs then!(but then again those general officers wouldn\'t have gotten those multi million dollar \"consulting\" jobs). Dan

  13. Pretty cool stuff I would be really cool to be under that thang as it goes over
  14. AAAAHHHHSOOOOO Yes your quite right, that is the difference between the pin types. I forgot all about that!!! Remember removing the pins by pulling the chain and installing the pins by pushing in the button. Danke!! Dan
  15. Yeah but which wannabe are they? Do they wannabe an HC or an MC-P or an MC-E or an MC-H?????? Better watch out that nobody tries to stuff a cannon on that thing LOL Dan
  16. ????? They are EXACTLY the same in operation, the only difference is the shape of the head and or pin diameter. You still have to push a button to allow the pips to retract allowing the pin to be withdrawn or inserted. Dan
  17. Regardless what the command structure thinks or wants, its always going to be a wombat Dan
  18. Gear door pins have always been the round head pip pins. I have never seen the T or L head pins used in the gear doors. Dan
  19. Gee, good thing the locals didn\'t strip the plane like they did in Lord Of War:blink: Dan
  20. Ahhh well it will go both ways in these storys, it just depends on who is being interviewed and which incompetent boob is writing the article. AD is better in some and Guard or Reserves are better in others. Not to worry, as long as we have RZ the Guard will be represented LOL I don\'t know if I would blame Lackheed for this or should we blame the CORRUPT officers that are running the contract? We all know that contractors will screw the military for every penny they can - and that includes programed obsolescence. But now the blue suiters that buy off on BS like this should be held accountable. (Just why do we keep buying off on contacts that come in at twice the awarded amount?) Dan
  21. Which tail number is it? Does it also have two poppet\'s in the ramp for a winch to pop into? I know the plane your talking about and I think I was told it was an NC (?) once upon a millennium and they were cooling vents for a hydro driven generator or a ATM driven Hydraulic pump - but I cant remember which it was. Dan
  22. This is just a quick tail flash from 1274 back in the day. Dan
  23. Yeah, now that you mention it I do remember it shaking like a hooker needing a bowl of Krak, pretty sure I wrote it up a time or two myself. Thanks for the brain jog Dan
  24. Wow, what kind of nose gear problem would require all that stuff? Dan
