  1. Does one of the four anti skid lights on the overhead come on when the brake drops pressure? If it does then there is something somewhere in the system that is telling the anti skid to cycle that brake. If you dont see a light on the overhead .... I would sacrifice a goat on the flight deck to drive out the bad demons. The slight pressure drop on the other three can be explained by the left forward brake repressurizing and taking some of the system pressure to do so. In all actuality it really sounds like the anti skid system is cycling that brake, but a normal cycle would be in the millisecond range, not a sustained release. Has the brake been changed? That seems to be the only part not changed yet. Below 15 knots the anti skid should be deactivated by the control box; there is only one place that provides a release signal to the anti skid below 15 knots and that is at the test panel, has anybody shot the wire to the test panel or checked the switch to make sure its not shorting? Good luck on this one, let us know what you find. Dan (I still say try the goat)
  2. Hey Nate, hows things going there in the penitentiary? Did 1855 fly good for you at Kadena? When it was at Hurby it almost always got off the ground, I really don\'t remember the plane canceling a mission. I do remember when the poor plane was down for over a year because of belly and wheel well corrosion. It may be an old school plane but whoever got it should get good performance out of it:) Now 7898 was an electrical pig, that plane had more electrical gremlins that any other plane I have flown. Dan
  3. Does the J run off of cables or is it all fly by wire and electric throttles? Reason for the question is the Boeing 777 that crashed/landed short yesterday at Heathrow. From what the British investigators have released so far is at 600 AGL the pilot pushed up the throttles and the computer decided he didn\'t need power!! Call me a Luddite but I like the idea of a direct connection to flight controls or engines, I have too many things that \"absolutely cannot fail\" fail on me. (seems to me those guys were pretty lucky) Dan
  4. Okay guys thanks, thats what I was thinking but wasn\'t sure. All I can say is in the military (air force at least) the term F O means something completely different, sometimes its something that is SAID to the co-pilot as opposed to being the co-pilot! I like right hand gear actuator for the co-pilot Dan
  5. FO = Flight Officer? Pilot? Just curious Dan
  6. 1855 was a good flying airplane but it always had lots of problems with corrosion (all over). Didn\'t Kadena turn it in to AMARC because of generalized corrosion as well? I don\'t remember if it was this one or 7898 that still had to old original E model outer wings, didn\'t even have x-valves. I would have thought they were ready for the scrap yard long ago but guess not. Lots of embarrassing fuel transfer attempts on that plane LOL Dan
  7. Where are the cargo aircraft? ISR maybe? I dont have a clue what ISR means Seems like there are a whole bunch more than 3 E models grounded and 13 restricted! Yes it all boils down to money but you could say it all boils down to corruption and fleet mismanagement and be even more correct. The cost of an airplane is nowhere near what the contractors are charging, the air force just happily goes ahead and shucks out the money for them, who cares if the companies are making 130,000% profit. Just like drug companies that charge 400 bucks for a bottle of 30 pills and whine about R&D costs even though they made all that back in the first four months... Just pure greed Just like the J model, it doesn\'t make fiscal sense. Not going to get into a bash on \"it needs more crew positions\", or \"cant do the mission \"or whatever but look at it, you can buy a J for 60 MILLION (probably more by now) or you can replace the center wing boxes on 25 for 30 E and H models for the same cost. You could probably fully amp and zero time an E or H for less than 20 mil and effectively get three for the price of one. I do believe it was Eisenhower that warned about the American military industrial complex and how much power it had, he has yet to be proven wrong. Difference is now, with two wars going on and China and Iran looming big in the future, their greed will in the end cost this country much more than dollars. Dan
  8. Holy Smokes! That little troll is still around? You could always track the IP of the message and file a complaint with his ISP, even threaten them with legal action for harassment if they don\'t do anything, lots of states are and have passed laws that cover some of this behavior. Or you could just go the unibomber way but you would have to move to a very small cabin first... Good luck on this one Dan
  9. Neither I think. I don\'t think that external tank is really an external tank either. Neat, wonder what it is? Dan

Gary, yeah your right about the FARP, I forgot the 67th and 17th - oops. Did you do it at the 9th? There has only been a couple of short periods there that I can remember we actually had to do it. The W has UARRSI? How did they manage to get the production for that fired up again? Maybe they should have finished the fleet if they had it going again, nothing like a force multiplier that you don\'t have! (but then again they never made you do three IRF\'s direct from Florida to Asia on a non IFR bird:side: ) Dan
  11. You will most likely not hear anything back at all or if you do it will be a negative. Recently we went through this with the NRA and their magazine the American Rifleman. Thanks to bill klintun and his digital millennium copyright act BS, the law is now so confusing that even lawyers cant answer what will or will not now violate copyright law. Sure its a Lockheed publication but now the individual authors (paid employee or not) may, or may not have copyright protection. Pretty pathetic! Dan

bobdaley wrote: Bob, by the time I retired the P model did just about everything the E and H model did. Refueling, resupply, airdrops etc. Thanks to commanders that always added more and more to the mission statement! We didnt do seizures or FARP (even thought FARP kept raising its ugly head). Besides the only thing they could do that we could not was low level girly style! We didnt have the TFTA to set and forget LOL I think the W model is an all in one but not sure. Dan
  13. MY God, just what in the hell is Boeing thinking? Actually I don\'t think their thinking at all, using the airframes avionics computer to provide wireless Internet for the cattle! Jeez, makes me feel even better that I don\'t dare fly anymore!!! Overpaid idiots! Dan

Actually the M in this case means \"MONEY\"!!! The M (yes, multi-mission)designation allows the aircraft to tap into SOCOM money instead of just living off of big blues dribbles of the pennys left after the fighter toys are bought. That was the one of the primary reasons for redesignating the HC-130P & N models to MC-130P\'s. Those AFSOC toys they put on those airplanes aint cheap :silly: Dan
  15. Pffft guess I wont even bother commenting on this abortion. Dan
  16. Berlin for Lunch Bunch? Yeah I remember \"Eat Ice Cream or Die\" stickers at Templehof back in the good old days of the cold war LOL Dan
  17. US Herk wrote: Same pissing match when they showed up at Rhine Main to do airland into Sarajevo, they shot at us enough as it was, why give them a target to shoot at! The teeth came off! Dan
  18. Yeah history\'s just fine, but \"historically\" they belong on Fighters not transport and even worse a RESCUE plane with the stupid teeth? Thats just asinine. Dan
  19. 1825 looks much better WITHOUT the teeffus, nothing sillier than shark teeffus on a herk as proven by the 2nd AS with their silly teeth (or whichever Pope squadron that was). Dan
  20. Yeah, I had a checkride once that crapped an engine and we ended up other than at home station. That stump the dummy session went into four days for gods sakes, but at least he didn\'t ask that question - I would have blown it for sure LOL Dan
  21. Baby bottles? Really? Wow, never hear that before! Thanks Dan
  22. Yeah the images are old because this is the free google earth. If you pay for the pro you have up to date imagery and better definition as well. You can bet those greasy little buggers are paying for the up to date imagery. Good thing we don\'t want them to upset moslem\'s by showing mecca huh! Dan
  23. Heres something I found out wandering around places I\'ve been on google earth Heres Baghdad IAP and here are some American living area Here is Tikrit AP and some more US living areas But get this, they have the sensativity to block out the images of mecca! WTF Over?

  25. Okay, I can understand that. If you cant get any then you cant get any. I used to buy a cheap drip coffee maker when we would go on the road (15 bucks or so) and use a plug adapter for 220 and just plug it into the hot cup receptacle and spin the timer. I always had fresh coffee making on those long overwater legs or just on damn cold mornings SEFEGeorge, sure maybe flight kitchen coffee wasn\'t too good but if you left it turned on for two or three days then it started to develop a nice body and bouquet!! I really really preferred they got both jugs full of coffee, for water we usually had igloos that got filled with ice water. And the covered hole in the center of the hot jug is for dry ice in case you have something you want to keep cold, you know, like those cheap kidneys you can buy in Kenya for resale on the black market in the states or ur-up:) The most unforgivable sin was when we were flying the E model out of Hurlburt for a pro mission and the pilot had the jug filled with cinnamon chicory foofoo coffee - grrrrrrr Not good when your FE on the old pilot pro dont get his smokes OR coffee!!!
