  1. Okay, I have some news on my progress. Unfortunately, this is a campaign coin and the only one like it is @ the 4th SOS, but it belongs to the Air Commando Association, and is not for sale. If you are interested, I talked to the Booster club and they will have new Spooky coins in later next week. Ron
  2. This shutdown is there any possibility it happens when you shut off the hydraulics to check the pumps. I have heard of depot swapping cannon plugs accidentally (fuel shutoff and hydraulic shutoff) and when the hydraulic switch is turned off the engine flames out, just a thought. Ron
  3. Do you have a picture of the back of the coin? I believe they are still available for a nominal fee @ the 4th SOS here at Hurlburt Field. If you're still interested, I can provide the exact cost and would be willing to do the legwork to get you one! Ron
  4. Happened to a 9th SOS crew while TDY to Turkey, the airplane sure looked funny coming in for a landing. When we removed the dome the hardware that attaches the pitch change mechanism to the blade was laying in the bottom of the barrel assembly.
  5. We have an airplane on our ramp here at Hurby doing something very similar as you described. I find this a little funny, is it possible that the AF bought a bad batch of batteries?
  6. NATOPS1, I liked your picture of the Torque and Reference shaft, with the 6.04 degree twist at 19.6. Can you possibly provide a source for that document Thanks Ron
  7. Railrunner130 Sometimes we just like to berate co-pilots for our enjoyment!
  8. If I'm not mistaking the Hub Mounting Bulkhead is where you add the weight (bolts nuts and washers) for minor prop balancing. That being said I would think that if you changed the part the prop would have to be rebalanced
  9. Thanks for the information, I once read a book with these tidbits and many more but the name of the book escapes me. I would like to purchase this book but memory not what it used to be, you wouldn't by any chance know the name of it?
  10. Yea I heard it's real hard on the frogs!
  11. Are you talking about MER? if so have you tried Hurlburt
  12. 1.5 in the T2 -1 but thats only with the plug in the drain!
  13. Venting can be caused by high scavange back pressure! Have you hooked up test equipment to determine how much back pressure is in the scavange system? Where is your engine venting from?
  14. That's what Al meant on newer UARRSI equipped aircraft the X valves (dump) are no longer on the touchdown switches and have to be opened prior to turning on the dump pumps. When they installed UARRSI they combined the air refueling manifold with the dump manifold so they had to put switches on so you could air-refuel without just taking it in and dumping it out the wings!
  15. Are you sure your not thinking of Beta lights?
  16. There is a limit to this pressure and it's not standard day the labyrinth seals are allowed a certain amount of leakage (Sorry can't remember the amount CRS and many beers) I will attempt to locate the number. Anyone with maintenance manuals if you look under the section dealing with oil dumping it should describe the procedures and state the limitations

Welcome to the world of camping Dan I find if you hold the bottom of the steering wheel and just turn it the way you want the back of the trailer to go it works well BTW nice truck!,and is that a toy hauler or just a place to keep the guns while camping? Maybe I'll see ya at Blackwater State park
  18. Not sure who Loren Cooper is can you enlighten?
  19. Quick question and I will admit I don't know that much about J model training but, who performs the HERP? (Hostile Enviromental Repair Procedures)?
  20. Is it true that some of the Js are in for wing boxes also?
  21. All the U-models are called H 2.5 they have digital fuel gauges and a semi glass cockpit.
  22. Not long ago (within the last 6 months) we had a high speed nose wheel shimmy that turned out to be a an issue with the right main landing gear tire, just a thought
  23. We used to fly pressurized (9800) cabin then quickly depressurize to shoot! Worked good lasted a long time
  24. I used 9800 feet, just enough to keep the cabin altitude light out and allows us to quickly extend the 105 and put rounds down on the guys that desperately deserved them!
