  2. I don't know Ben either but pray for his recovery. I wish I knew him. I hope Mrs. Sager can find some friends who knew him. She might also try to look on Together We Served - http://airforce.togetherweserved.com/ On a side note - A friend of mine had 18 yrs in the Marines and was on a night traning misson getting ready for a third deployment to Afghanistan. He broke his back in a fall and was discharged with 100% disability two years ago. He still walks wih a cane, but last year the VA re-evaluated him and changed his disability to 30%.
  3. The Stolen Valor Act is before the Supreme Court now, but with all the libs on there they will probably rule for free speech Kegan has related the SVA to an adulterer lying to his wife. Nothing here move along......
  4. Yesterday's (27 Feb) AF Times quoted Gen Schwartz saying that the force reduction will be more than they had thought originally.

  6. A YouTube video was recently posted of an Iranian Ilyushin IL-76MD crash as seen from a C-130 cargo bay at an air show. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504784_162-20069007-10391705.html
  7. Boeing received a $61 million U.S. Air Force contract for two more C-130 Avionics Modernization Program (AMP) kits and two Aircrew Training System devices as part of a low-rate initial production (LRIP) contract that was awarded in 2010. http://www.aviationtoday.com/av/categories/military/Boeing-Awarded-C-130-AMP-Training-Contract_73524.html
  8. Hundreds of jet decoys can fly from Hercules 'birdcages' US manufacturers have carried out a flight test that might change the way air battles are fought. In future, rather than sexy jet fighters or massive bombers, the aircraft which crush an enemy dictator's air defences could be ordinary cargo haulers – each of which could launch a hundreds-strong armada of small robot planes into the fray. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/05/31/mald_hercules_launch/
  9. It was a Minnesota Air Guard plane. I believe (if my old memory serves me) a '94 H3 model. I don't remember the details of the safety investigation though but I remember we had to do inspections on the gears of all our H3's at the time.
  10. AIFA, Israel, 24 May 2011. Leaders of the Romanian Air Force in Bucharest, Romania, needed advanced avionics and other aircraft electronics for the Romanian fleet of Lockheed-Martin C-130 four-engine turboprop transport aircraft. They found their solution from Elbit Systems Ltd. in Haifa, Israel. http://www.militaryaerospace.com/index/display/mae-defense-executive-article-display/8313244003/articles/military-aerospace-electronics/executive-watch-2/2011/5/romanian-air_force.html
  11. I tried to clean it up a little....
  12. An Army Colonel and an Air Force CMsgt were getting haircuts at the base barbershop. The Colonel's barber was about finished and asked "does the Colonel want some hair tonic"? The Colonel said "No way, my wife will think I smell like a French house of ill repute". The other barber was finishing up about the same time and asked "Chief, would you like some hair tonic". The Chief replied "why yes I would, my wife doesn't know what a house of ill repute smells like".
  13. Thanks Muff, I'll give it a try. Several places I was at had burn pits and I got the flight doc to annotate it in my records. Another place had many Chemical and Radiation Hazard - Do Not Enter signs posted. I have several pictures of the signs and the storage bunkers they were in. What did you say I couldn't hear you..............
  14. I got as far as tramp and my mind started to wander.
  15. Well I guess I won't have to worry about the mileage deduction. After retiring with 26 years, the VA told me I have to much money, placed me in a category 8 rating so I won't get to use the facilities. I live only four miles from a brand new VA clinic.

  17. C-130 Lands Safely After Instrument Panel Problem A second C-130 has an emergency landing at Colorado Springs.............. http://www.kktv.com/home/headlines/C-130_Lands_Safely_After_Instrument__120096919.html
  18. A C-130 Air National Guard cargo plane made an emergency landing at the Colorado Springs Airport yesterday. http://www.newsfirst5.com/news/cargo-plane-makes-emergency-landing/ The story is not much on specifics.
  19. NC was hit with over 70 tornadoes over the weekend. The worst were in the eastern part of the state. A Lowes Home Improvement in Sanford near Raleigh was totally destroyed. Every on was safe thanks to the manager and staff. I have not heard anything on Pope either. This weekend at Seymour Johnson was hosting Wings over Wayne Co. The Thunderbirds, many bands, a Tora Tora Tora WWII recreation and many other events were to take place from the 15th - 17th. I have not heard anything from Seymour either, but it appears that the show was stopped on Saturday due to winds.
  20. I switched to Firefox at work and at home a couple of months ago. It runs a lot faster and with less problems. It is easy to load and take about 2 minutes. It will bring over all your old bookmarks and the security is better also.
  21. I too thank you DONWON for your stand and for your service. The Westboro "Church?" threatened to protest a funeral here in our county a couple of years ago. Our sheriff (who was also an adviser to Homeland Security under GWB and teaches classes on terrorism worldwide) used a technicality in the law (I can't remember what it was but it was terrorist related). The sheriff had the district attorney send notification to Westboro, that if they set foot in or near the cemetery they would be arrested. They did not show up, but the good guys were ready. Westboro later claimed they were busy at a retreat that weekend and could not make it. Did any of you hear about the group of vets a few months ago who snuck up on Westboro's rental van outside the cemetery and slashed the tires. They tried to get the tires fixed in town but no one would help.
